Well crap

Post by stubiePW » Fri Nov 13, 2015 6:06 pm

So went out on a little trip. Nothing fancy, but did get some damage. Broke my passenger mirror and dented the doors. They both still work thank goodness. I was going up a wet hill around a tree. Thought I had it, slid back, thought I could get it. Should have stopped and winched... Hindsight. Its the second bit of decent damage done.

That is exactly where my tree damage is too, didn't break my mirror as bad as yours. I think I cried a little when it happened. I still need to get inside the door and try to push the dents back out, it's only been 6 months or so since it happened, lol.

Should of had rock rails with nerf bars. That would of kept the tree off of the door. Mine have saved my doors a few times.

Been there myself with my old '07 ram 1500. I went down a narrow muddy abandoned road in the rain with the stock 20" wheels and tires...mistake. Made it to the first banked turn when i started sliding and didnt stop till it snugged the hood and fender up to the tree. So slick that it rubbed an inch down the tree when I opened the door and got out. Had to leave it there overnight, nooone could even get to me it was so slick  Oh well trail damage happens, live and learn!
If I start listing Mods I would have to change the list daily

Sorry to hear about the damage. Your Wagon is starting to look like mine! LOL! Both my mirrors are held together with black duct tape, and my driver door is misshapen enough from whacking the mirror that it has a small leak right next to the windshield. I have two undented body panels- my front fenders! (I haven't hit them (knock on wood))

OOOPS, I forgot, my gas filler door is (as yet) undented so, that's 3 body panels, LOL!!!

Yeah, keeping your truck dirty will help hide the damage!

Hopefully you can get them straightened out some!

Well it looks a lot worse clean. Some of it might have been able to pull, but I crimpled it pretty good. No effect on the door function. Anyway, getting it fixed via insurance. Talked with body shop last week. $4300 estimate. I only pay deductible. If I wasn't still paying on it and it wasn't my daily I would probably just use some touch up paint, but the boss wants it fixed. $400 for the damn mirror alone. But the body shop is also throwing in the dent in the rocker. He told me that basically my whole passenger side will be repainted by the time they blend the paint onto the front fender and bed. Should be 2 weeks he said. I'll try and get a pic tomorrow of the dents

How'd you get insurance to cover that? Isn't that a driver caused nuisance style damage that insurance companies don't like paying for? I wonder if I could get my insurance to fix mine, even though it has been about 9 months since it happened? Haha. I'd be ok with paying my deductible to have my dents pulled out.

So I broke through some ice on a bush trail. No big deal. I have a power wagon. So I was playing arctic ice breaker and smashed through the hole. Haha! No winch needed! The one of my kids says "oh oh" look behind us. A trail of blood! I bent the transmission pan. Did some quick bush fixing to get home. Fixed it today. I need to skid plate the entire truck!

if you have comprehensive coverage...that's how. you pay a deductible too. generally your rate won't increase with one claim, depending on your history. i had somebody accidentally shoot their 270 in my 97' ram pickup. 12k in damage...don't ask. comprehensive picked it up.

If I tried to have insurance fix my dents they would total it. Everything works and my body panels are self clearing. Aren't power wagons supposed to have dents all over?

If you collect enough dents it should improve the fuel economy, like a golf ball!

Glad to see you are actually using your power wagon! Mine has brush scratches all over it and everyone freaks out about it. I have to remind them that this truck is awesome and its meant to go wheeling.

That's why I love having a white wagon. Scratches don't show too easily.

Yea. Scratches don't bother me nor the wife. Dents... Another story. If it ever becomes a secondary vehicle I will care less, or when it is paid for.

I agree to some extent. Just hurts when I'm still paying.

The truck has been at the shop a week now. My rental is a 2014 single cab ram 2500. Not too bad. Enough cup holders for an army. The ride is rough, I miss the wagon every day. It's a base model with 4 wheel. But yea, it rides like a truck. The single cab is actually pretty roomy.
