They are the BFG KM2 mud terrains. Look to be the 285/70/17's.Ducky's Dad wrote:Tires look like Goodrich A/Ts, actually very quiet.its first test will be a 1600 mile road trip home...which by the looks of those tires, will be noisy.
I have them on my Jeep in a 35. They are actually quite quiet and smooth on the road.

Good call, I'll def ask that.Pit Slave wrote:I'd still ask what they did with the factory PW wheels. See if they can give them with the truck, they were not cheap from the dealership when you could still get them before.

There is a set of 2015 PW wheels for sale here in the Classifieds.
Re: Hopefully joining the ranks, opinions please!
BP does move the bumpers back for the transport boxes. It'll be easy to tell if the bed has marks from the insert and extra holes for the A/C lines to run to it. Must trucks dont have cut lights, that's a station/assigned vehicle thing. Wheels and tires get swapped on government vehicles all the time as you swap through spares. Or someone swapped them with another vehicle, that alone means nothing. You should see some shadowing if it's had grafics on it. Some trucks are brought in without grafics for specific uses. But I'd imagine in the right light you can see at least where there are no scratches where the grafics were. The bumper spacing and lack of rear seats are common to BP though. But their vehicles usually go back to Texas to be auctioned. Take pics of any witness marks from equipment and if you see any other marks on the truck. Might be able to tell you more after the pics. Where are you picking it up at?
BP, BLM and PCSO all use or have used PWs all could have had rough lives. But depending on the area they came from some fair a lot better then others. He fact the extended rear bumper isn't twisted might mean this one had an easier life. PCSO generally swap to Aluminess bumpers for their search and rescue trucks, but they could swap them with replacement and keep the aftermarket stuff. If the bumpers are new but the rest is scratched that could point you that way. Looking at the bottom of the truck will tell you fairly quickly what kind of life it had. Check the front axle closely. Look for leaks around the tube/ diff junctions. Those get bent and start leaking. Also see if it still has its bumpstops. If not, I'd expect front end damage from hard usage. As soon as the bumpstops go, the front axle is not far behind.

Re: Hopefully joining the ranks, opinions please!
Good information. The truck is in phoenix/apache junction AZ. I will absolutely look under the truck and check the diffs, bump stops, and skid plates. My dad decided he wants to make the trip with me so im taking him along for a litttle road trip. He has a great eye for paint work and should be able to pick the body apart pretty quickly.

Re: Hopefully joining the ranks, opinions please!
Definitely get the stock wheels & congratulations...cheap enough to build it up right.
UPDATE
This past Thurs my pops and I took a 1 way flight down to AZ to check out the truck. Out on the test drive I was a happy man, the truck was tight, bumpstops in good condition, skid plates weren't beat up, and everything worked! Then I started picking apart the body and slowly became more disappointed. Couple of holes in the bed from mounting brackets, cracked taillight, dented bumper, no back seat and shot front seats, and the paint was pretty rough. This gave me some ammo though and its all stuff I know I can fix up. Long story short, after 7 hours of negotiation and a call to the cab company to drive us back t the airport, I purchased the truck for $14,100. I think that should leave me with enough room to fix it all up and come out ahead. It made the road trip from AZ to MN ~1,650 miles in 28 hours with no hiccups! Looking forward to giving this truck a great life

Heck yeah!
If you are not after a meticulously clean truck that you never plan to wheel or use hard, then I think you made out like a bandit.
The paint looks nice and shiny in that one pic. Plenty good enough for a workhorse!

Awesome! My first wagon was BEAT when I picked it up cheap... I put some lipstick on the pig, beat it hard and put it away wet! Was almost more fun than my 2nd cherry wagon...

Great buy.Congrats.
A few dings and scratches in the paint mean you wont have to worry about it when you go wheeling.

Re: EDIT: I have joined the ranks!
I have former BLM rig. Put almost 30k since bought. Few minor cosmetic issues but not a single mechanical problem. Except breaking front axle. But that was self inflicted. Well front prob shaft u-joints were gave out too but that is not unheard of for sure.
Plain white 2008, 35" Duratracts, Bilstein 5160s.
Re: EDIT: I have joined the ranks!
Truck looks great. Glad it worked out for you. Were you able to see any ghosting from the previous graphics? Or any other clues we might recognize to figure out what agency it came from?
Check eBay for seats. A friend at work likes to buy auctioned ex-government vehicles. He finds some of his missing seats there. There's always junkyards and LKQ.com which is salvage parts online.

UPDATE
Yea there is some ghosting, it did come from border patrol. My dad and I are pretty good with paint stuff and he has already started to correct some of the paint. I think i'll be able to restore it so you dont see any ghosting...otherwise i'll just vinyl wrap the pig.Mike-H wrote:Truck looks great. Glad it worked out for you. I've been scouring ebay and local CL and there is some interior parts available but the prices are ridiculous. Right before a bought the truck there was a complete set up for $650 in good condition and after i bought it they were gone. Can't seem to find anything else decent under $1,000! I have found decent seats looking at out of state CL but noone wants to ship, same story with the tailgate.
Overall i'm pretty happy with the progress. I'll post up some pics tonight showing all the extra crap i've been ripping out of the rig...over a hundred lbs. shed already

Also, I picked up some CL H2 wheels for $225 and hoping to pull the trigger on some 35" KO2's sometime soon but I need to put money into the interior and tailgate first.

Re: EDIT: I have joined the ranks!
This may sound crazy, and I don't know your situation so this may not work for you, but do you even need a back seat? For the many years I owned my Silverado I hauled passengers maybe a handful of times. The other 99% of the time I had the back seat folded up, using the rear of the cab for storage and dogs transport. A crew cab without back seats could make for a pretty awesome flat-floor storage area. If I was still single and had a truck that was already kind of a beater, I would seriously consider it.
