Superchargers

Post by Weststsh » Wed May 06, 2015 4:35 pm

Hi guys can we make a list of what superchargers are available for our trucks.

Year of trucks:

2005-2008; procharger https://www.procharger.com/truck-superc ... _ram_truck

Not sure about any roots/ roots hybrid offerings. Thought Whipple was offering a few years back not sure though. Magnauson magna charger?

I don't think the procharger will work due to our winch mount.

I have also read that drivability suffers as the supercharger kits are really intended for high performance and not as much focus on slow trail use (what our trucks are intended for).

At the end of the day you are better off (driveability wise) building the motor, like a stroker with a good matched cam.
08' Dodge RAM PowerWagon (Laramie, 6 Speed)
GO: Diablo tuned, AEM drop in, Magnaflow "Y" and 24" muffler (dumper over the axle)
Traction/Suspension:305-70-17 Toyo AT2's, DT Profab Steering Brace, Carli front diff guard.
See: Silver stars headlights, 9012 fogs, reprogrammed for fogs with high beams, (2)6" KC LED gravity in driving/spread behind the grill
Tunes:Pioneer AVH-X5800BHS w/stock infinity amp, Infinity ref. dash/reardoor speakers, kappa component front door, JL rear stealth box and JX500.1d.
Other: Dually marker light under the tailgate, 2013+ Red hemi badges, Bedtred bedliner and mopar rubber mat, Wheel well liners, rubber flaps, Bakflip MX4, W2W Mopar steps (bedlined black), weathertech front mats and rain deflectors.

Yes this is true for a centrifugal supercharger such as the procharger, which is like a belt driven turbocharger. The roots hybrids like the magna and Whipple build boost at low rpm and would benefit the 09-13 crowd.

I think more or less the stoker and centrifugal supercharger would have a comparable linear HP and torque curve.

With the procharger the heat exchanger are all mounted high in the radiator, don't think the winch would be an issue. Could be wrong though, don't think anybody with a power wagon has boosted yet.

Edelbroke system looks promising for sure! Lots of r and d in different climates. Roots style also

was very interested in this one for awhile but funds are there for it right now!

Yeah edlebroke is another good option for 09-13 crowd. Yeah another thing lots of these superchargers are rated for only 0 and above. My thing boils down to having more passing power when trailering to make a quick pass, since most of the hwy in BC are single lane when heading north.

I like boost. I just don't like relying on 91 minimum

I'm just being annoying. I know the limitations of nitrous. I've run a couple cheater systems before.

I've read that forged internals are required for forced induction on the Hemi's?

I think if you keep boost down around 5-7lbs the stock internals would be okay... Just my reasoning though...

I've read that in general, the internals are quite robust. The weak link is the piston rings. If your gonna change them out, you may as well get better Pistons as well.

Most of the supercharger kits keep boost to around 6psi.

I've sure been thinking about this lately. Was going to simply throw in a cam, bigger throttle body and open the exhaust but a mild supercharger does sound nice.

Seems easier and faster to just slap a charger on.... Especially ones that come with tuners already... Pretty simple. Hardest part is plumbing intercooler piping and water pumps etc...

Yes, the supercharger would be an easy bolt on. I just worry about the tranny holding it.

Ya me too... You think being the same internals as the 68re it would hold 500ft lbs no problem...... Could be wrong but I thought the newer six speeds were very robust compared to the 5's and the 4's
