Re: The tale of the lonely power wagon owner
Diesels are untouchable when it comes to hard work. High compression allows for fantastic engine braking. Engine longevity with hard use is phenomenal( especially the cummins).Fuel economy under heavy load doesn't change drastically like a gas motor. When I tow heavy with the Hemi, the fuel economy is cut in half or more, and if you drove it like that regularly, the engine wouldn't last too long. Use the right tool for the job at hand is what comes to mind.
Without a load, diesels still get better fuel economy but it doesn't mean much when the cost of diesel is what it is. In Alberta there are a lot of young guys with money to burn, and far too often they buy the biggest "super-lifted" and "chipped" diesels with exhaust tips so big, a family of barn owls could roost in there. It quite sad. It got to the point where " occupational health and safety" in Alberta put rules into affect that won' t allow more than a 2" factory OEM lift to be put on trucks used in the oil patch. Too many of these knuckle draggers drive them like race cars and are rolling their trucks or rear ending others resulting in death. Lifts are great for off-road purposes but most of these guys are just trying to out do each other (penis sword fights) and all they do is drive the muddy roads to the oil lease sites.

It's kinda that way down here I see allot of jacked up diesels that are just for show pavement queens. All they wanna do is race. I'd like to see more Power Wagons here in NM. I have only seen one and it was driving away so i didn't get to see it close up. I haven't seen any others with Power Wagons here sadly. I need to just make a trip to one of the Power Wagon get togethers and get to see em in action. I also love the Power Wagons for the on the floor old school shifter into 4wd like the older gen rams had and the columm shifter also, think that's what it's called. I don't like the newer rams too much since they replaced that stuff with a knob to switch into 4wd and a knob to put it in drive etc.

Lol it's kmh not mph. But I think u seen that lol. I have no complaints. Pw axles with 4.56 gears and still good returns. I do get the weight issue but ill seriously air down for fun stuff if I need too. Did 790km today. Cruise set whole
Way.
Way.

I doubt it. I think your rear axle and your differential housing is too small to house 4.56 gearscountrystrong wrote:Oh lol didn't really register in my mind half asleep I guess. Re: The tale of the lonely power wagon owner
Oh ok that makes sense a buddy today told me the same thing as well.
Re: The tale of the lonely power wagon owner
Here in Farmington NM, it seems I see one every other day. I have done quite a bit to mine to make it unique and until last week when I saw a twin SLT of mine on the lot, it was the only one in town with my color scheme. They have moved about 10 or more total locally in the last couple months, a couple Laramies, few SLT and a few tradesman packages. A whole variety of colors, bright green, tan, orange, blue all kinds. I think I will be removing the bed graphics and leave the power wagon letters on the doors to change mine that little bit. Plus the bumpers and sliders.countrystrong wrote:It's kinda that way down here I see allot of jacked up diesels that are just for show pavement queens. All they wanna do is race. Re: The tale of the lonely power wagon owner
As far as I know none of yall live around me. I only know of 2 others around me, both 3rd gens as well. I havent spoke to either one. parked beside one of them one time but that was about it. Kinda sucks not having someone to share the appreciation with lol.
Re: The tale of the lonely power wagon owner
Yeah I've seen 2, 4th gens in my area, a black one that looks like it's been through the ringer and used to haul scrap metal through cow fields and a dark grey one and neither of those owners will even waive. A lot of the people here in Jersey are just mad at the world so I'm not surprised. Mine was the only silver one but I've heard there's another that's been seen many times lately by my daughter and friends. I don't mind because now I can always say "that wasn't me" if I didn't feel like stopping or whatever, HaHa. Oh and I agree that most people don't know that a Power Wagon is more than a sticker package. I had to explain to a friend of mine what it was and he was very surprised because he thought it was just decals. We have a bunch of Raptors and hundreds of Diesels jacked up with 8"/10" stacks with rebel flags hanging off the back and driven by wanna be redneck kids who live in $600,000 + houses with mom and dad. Honestly, how else does a 20 year old pay for a new $50/$60k truck and proceed to do a lift, chip, wheels/tires, programmers and giant turbos? Even my kids laugh at them because they live in McMansions but wear cowboy hats and drive jacked up diesel Fords with bumper stickers reading "no Farmers no Food". I've owned a diesel and when it comes to towing, ya can't beat em. It's just not for my driving conditions since i tow heavy a few times a year and generally drive 6 miles to work and back.

And a 3rd one shows up at work. I think I started something.
