Hello Boomerttl,

I have been through the same new truck disappointment before as well in fact, for the fist few months of owning my 07 PW I felt some of that comparison letdown from my old truck it's normal, your going from the familiar to the unfamiliar. Once you start to get to know your new truck I bet you will come to appreciate it more and more.

The 15 PW is the most advanced full-sized 4x4 pick-up on the market, bar-none, so hang in there and give it some time you have an excellent truck!

The PW is not so much a dedicated rock crawler as it a an all around 4x4, in comparison to the Raptor which is primarily a go-fast truck, the PW is a jack of all trades, off-roading, towing, hauling, hunting, fishing, camping, long road trips, etc.

Anyway I hope what I said provides some perspective, good luck and lets see some pics!

I think everyone hit it on the head. The new PW is a great vehicle. I miss my 06 PW, but I have learned to love my '15. Does it have all of the cool things the PW has? No. But it is far more capable for what I need. Good luck

traded in my 05 wagon for a 15. the 05 seemed like it had a better turning radius and was lighter. Also i wasn't afraid to wheel it hard. But other than that this 15 tradesman is definately an upgrade. Its longer and heavier but i havnt noticed much difference in a little higher gearing yet. i havnt took the new one into any hellholes where i took the 05 but that will come. highway driving is where my new truck definately pulls ahead of the 3rd gen. Its a night and day difference especially in handling and comfort.

For what it's worth, I waited two months for this truck. Spent a little more than 50K and expected a top of the line (gas) truck in return. When I took delivery of the Wagon it looked like it was shipped with the windows down. The front bumper is misaligned with no side to side adjustment and the truck was vibrating so bad I couldn't hit highway speeds. The salesman, mechanic and service manager all had their way with my new truck before the 1st one-hundred miles were on the odometer. Been back for service twice in two weeks and have had three of the four tires replaced under warranty. Now I can hit 75 before the truck starts to vibrate. The least of my problems is that transmission seem lazy. It's just late to down shift when I climb a grade. I think this is the best looking truck available today though I'm considering my options with the lemon law. If I do send it back, i'll likely order another one... I just like it that much.

Horseplay, don't blame you a bit. Lemon for sure and the dealership should get its shit together! It's Thier job to get it perfect for you. Call chrysler and tell them and tell the dealership to get it right. Mother mopar can stick it to a bad dealership. If it's a five star dealer they can loose that status. Good luck and don't take any shit!

Horseplay-
I will say, the transmission will react better after a few thousand miles. With all the new computer controls, they will actually "learn" to your driving style.
The vibration, IDK. I would suggest having the dealer retorque every bolt in the suspension. Similar happened with my 2012 (no vibration but, loose bolts, and a bent trackbar bolt in less than 1000 miles!!!!)
And yeah, upon delivery (before it got cleaned up), the interior looked like they never rolled the windows up, dust everywhere!!!!

Boomerttl-
Sorry to hear that you have been disappointed so far. Sounds like a switch to 4.56 gears would be a BIG help though!
The only time I have had the traction control be a nuisance is in mud in 2wd. As stated above, you can thank the government for it- they mandate that all new vehicles have to have it.
I mostly stick to rocks but, it has done well in what mud I have gotten in. The only limitations have been size, weight, and breakover angle thus far.

Overall, I LOVE my 2012!!! I could wish it was a little smaller on tight trails but, the size is great when it comes time to move stuff! (plus it is the most comfortable vehicle I've ever owned, I am 6'3" and 300lbs and have plenty of room in any seat!!!) With 37s, my fuel economy is abysmal (11mpg) but, that's not what I bought the truck for! (with my driving habits I never got much fuel economy in any other vehicle anyway) I could always wish for more power but, the 5.7L still does what it needs to do so, can't complain there. (I wish I had my 4.56 gears and a 6.4L!!!!)

Why did I buy it? Should have done more research, well I bought it because of every thing I read it was bigger badder and better! Basically all I said once again was I was disappointed in the gearing,I think the g3 power train package is better, that's just my opinion, an opinion. My 05 was wearing out, I was getting death wobble at least 1 time every time on the high and hit an overpass or bridge just right, witch by the way no one could figure out why cause front end wasn't the one recalled, and I work my butt off and thought after ten years I would like a new truck with all the nice luxuries the 15 had, and with a family of 5 they all wanted a new one cause they said they where tried of being beat the death and my wife almost sh!tting herself everytime it death wobbled and with the research that I did not do, it said the ride was much improved and it is, and also because I can! Now if the dealer would of let me test drive the truck I ordered for a month or 2 would have nice but I don't think they do that. I could of asked one of the nice members here if I could of borrowed their truck for awhile but I don't think anybody here would of. Once again it's just my opinion that the g3 package is better (power train)! But after looking around in here I'm not the only one with a 14 or 15 that wants the old gearing back, so like I said I am exploring my options on regearing it, once again it's just my opinion that's all, by no means am I a 4x4 expert, I just want the best truck off the show room floor that I don't have to take down to the 4x4 shop after I buy it and have the winch and the locking diff's put on (i like real four wheel drive)and its mopar or nocar for me should not have to explain that here, but since I have to explain it you don't understand it  , I just came hear to vent and express once again my opinion, cause my wife and kids just look at me like I'm crazy when I gripe at them about it.My dad always told me if it ain't broke don't fix it and the old power train wasn't broke and yes that 6.4 hemi had me foaming at the mouth, if it doesn't make you then check your paulse, just seems to me the old gearing with that 6.4 would be awesome cause I really don't care about gas mileage. So with that being said once again it's just my opinion I love the truck in general,I'm just disappointed in the gearing. I duck hunt pull a large 17 foot duck boat (large in duck boats) loader to the gill with gear down mud hole infested dirt roads and want the best and in my opinion the power wagons are the best! :patriot:

I was never impressed by the truck either... I was hearing everyone else talk about how powerful the new 6.4 Hemi is and how the truck is a beast and I'm like mine is a turd... The lemon law was a long and painful process but I just took delivery of my 15 Power Wagon yesterday and I can tell you that my 14 was absolutely a LEMON... For what it's worth, I agree that they should have kept the 4:56 gears. That's one reason why I bought a 2013 instead of the 2014. Your statement above is somewhat of an antagonistic approach to the beginning of a thread. The members here have had many " positive" discussions about the pros and cons. The fact that your wife and kids " look at you like your crazy for complaining about it" might be an indicator that you complain to much. You went ahead and "ORDERED" a $50000+ truck with 4:10 gearing. Own it. It is not like your telling us it's defective. You could have ordered 4:56 gears which is after all, the whole advantage of ordering from the factory... Or if you can't, just plan to swap them out yourself. It was your decision not to test drive, you could have insisted or test drove somewhere else.
This is fact: 2005 power wagon 345 hp 375 torque 9.2 secs 0-60 mph
2015 power wagon. 410 hp 429 torque 8.4 secs. 0-60 mph

Way I see it, the 2015 is faster and you need to learn to accept the decisions you make. Makes life easier on yourself and others around you.

The fact that your wife and kids " look at you like your crazy for complaining about it" might be an indicator that you complain to much. You went ahead and "ORDERED" a $50000+ truck with 4:10 gearing. Own it. It is not like your telling us it's defective. You could could have ordered 4:56 gears which is after all, the whole advantage of ordering from the factory...

You can't order the 4.56 gears, they would have to be installed later.
