Snorkel Question
So the brown santa dropped of a airflow snorkel this afternoon. Going through the parts the air intake is massive, while definitely looking forward to the added air ram flow not a huge fan of driving around looking like I have my periscope raised. I was looking at AEV's Pre-Assembly filter for their snorkel http://www.aev-conversions.com/shop/pre ... jk-snorkel , their snorkel has a 4" opening which the filter uses. The Airflow opening is 3.5", while getting the filter to fit would be no problem with a shim, I'm just wondering if the 1/2" loss could potentially effect airflow to the engine? I can't imagine it would be any more restrictive than the stock intake but just curious. Any thoughts?

Re: Snorkel Question
you shouldn't have anything to worry about. The snorkels are more about breathing good air and keeping water out of the engine than the "ram" effect. Heck many people who had Safari snorkels would rotate their scoop backwards during bad rain, which would have no "ram" effect. Your engine is going to have plenty of air.

Re: Snorkel Question
What about a coupling from one of the ricer companies? The silicone ones I think they make ones to adapt different sizes of tubing.

My inner redneck coming out, I was just thinking about buying the right size PVC pipe and using that to use as a shim.jeep_boy02 wrote:What about a coupling from one of the ricer companies? The silicone ones I think they make ones to adapt different sizes of tubing.

Re: Snorkel Question
Definitely cheaper. I bought one for a 3" to 2.5" for a tractor and it was $40 I think.
