I've been reading this forum a few years to learn about Power Wagons. Back in '13 I decided it was the truck for me. This forum has been super helpful to learn about these trucks. You guys were a major reason I decided to make an investment in a Power Wagon. Fast-forward to January when I pulled the trigger on ordering a new 2015 Tradesman in Black Forest Green. I took delivery today:
A couple of questions:
- Tire pressures: the dealership set them like a normal 2500 (74 front, 68 rear). I'm planning to set to 40 front and 35 rear. Is that generally inline with what you guys are doing? I know the dash warning will come on.
- MaxCare bumper-to-bumper lifetime warranty: I've read a few older threads on the warranty. What's the current opinion of it's value? I plan to keep this truck through its service life. Planned mods are sliders and an ARB modular bar with lights. Would these effect the warranty?
- In cabin electronics mounting: has anyone mounted an iPad so its accessible while driving? I did this in my Chevy with a Ram mount so it is available for route planning, weather updates and mapping apps. Looking for ideas on the best/most accessible way to mount in the Wagon
Thanks!

Sweet!! I like it!! Like the topper too! I've got the arb bumper, and am really impressed with it. No, this doesn't affect your warranty. Enjoy it man!!

I use a RAM mount in my 2006 with a 15" laptop, it's great for route planning and GPS nav. I love the big screen and adjustability with the mount.

Congrats and welcome!! I run 315/70/17 tires on my '14 so I have my tire pressure set at 38 psi all around. I have just learned to live with the warning light always on.

Congratulations! Welcome to the Mob.
As far as tire pressures go, I do the "chalk test" to determine where I need to be with pressures. The bumper change should have no effect on the warranty. For the iPad mounts, I don't have any idea.

Welcome to the forum.

Tire pressures. I run 40 in the front and 35 in the rear. Unless I got a load. At the factory pressures. The PW will ride like a basketball.

That damn tire light has been since '08 with mine. Hoping one day it will burn out.

I'm running 35 front, 30 rear. I removed the tpms all together, and have no light on at all. Once every few weeks, it pops up, and on the centre display, it reminds me every time I start the truck, but I switch it to speedo. No orange light!

Set your tire pressure based on what's important to you. I run mine at 60 psi front and back on my '14. I don't like the sluggish steering response that I get on the highway at less than 40 psi especially at highway speeds. The stock load range D tires flex a lot at lower pressures. When I do load up, I don't have to frig around with airing up. I don't have to look at the low tire pressure light unless one of the tires actually needs air.
I used to use the argument that higher pressures give you better gas mileage (which it does) - but that's not much of an issue with the current price of gas.

Bottom line is that tire pressure is a personal choice (within reason)

Exactly what he said! I run 315/70/17's, and do the chalk test, to ensure full tread hits the road, so I'm not wearing out the centre of the tread. And I don't mind the softer ride. Still safe, and that's what matters

We ordered the same options. The topper is a Leer 100XR with insulation, carpeted, sliding windoor and Thule tracks. I've had a 100R on another truck for a while and it's been good to me.

Thanks for all the comments. Yes, it does look dark in photos. In the light and in-person the green really shines. It's a very deep green. I took a gamble ordering without seeing the color and am happy with the choice.
I put 400 miles on it today through snow and dry roads. It handled everything fine with 40psi all around. I'll do the chalk method when we get above single digits. Last night with 68+ psi was no fun in the snow. Much better today.
My wish is that we had tire choices that allowed narrower and taller tires as standard.
Has anyone bought the Maxcare warranty and used it? I've got a while before I lose the option to opt into the warranty. It would be a $3200 bet against Chrysler.

Nice truck. Cool color. Welcome !!'
I run 60 on my '14 with no issues yet on the road or in deep snow. It came from the dealer with 62, I keep 60 per the manual.
I too got the letter from Chyser about the life time warranty when I had about 5K miles, still not sure. You have till 12k or 1 yr, so I have some time. I bought a extended warranty already through USAA & not sure if I'll sell it back & go with the lifetime from Chysler. A few guys here with older wagons bought it & all have used it as their trucks approach 10 yes old & they all seem pleased with the choice.

Yeah, me too. I've received two letters & two email offers from MOPAR service, but none of them have any details of the warranty coverage, terms, deductible, cost, etc. it just says to call their 24hr hotline to talk to s customer service rep who's eager to answer your questions. I'm hesitant to call because once you're on the line, you're hooked & they won't let you off. i might call just to hear the speech.

Hey not trying to spam the thread, but I work for a Chrysler dealer in the finance dept (selling the Mopar service contracts) and if you guys have any questions on the service contracts shoot me a PM. Yago, I really like the black forest green on your truck! I am very happy I have upgraded from the 13 to a 14, much happier with the 6.4 and the ride! Now just ready to get rid of this snow so I can go from pulling out stuck cars to doing some wheeling!!

We are an open forum. As long as you're not acting like an ambulance chaser, you're welcome to let us know what options are out there to keep clarity on the subject. Helping out is just fine with us, in fact I think this would make a great topic for you to start as there seems to be incomplete info on factory extended / lifetime warranty.

Nope, no chasing any ambulances here. I have picked up enough valuable info around here in a short time that I just want to be able to contribute in ways that I can. Clarity is always the best when it comes to making purchases that are protecting the pretty major investment we have all made in these trucks.
