Just ordered a DT Fro Fab Steering Brace

Found these at a great price, $200 shipped! Called them up and verified that it is notched for the swaybar. Should have this early next week.

:cash: I am happy with mine so far. Seemed to tighten things up a bit. Can't imagine it is going to do a whole lot for a brand new rig though.
2005 Black Pow Wagon mods: DT Profab Steering Brace, Gibson superflow catback single exhaust system, Locker Bypass, Moog ball joints (see how long they last), New OEM track bar bushings, T-steering upgrade w/ Bilstein 5100 steering damper, Power everything, Heated leather seats, (keeps the better half happy), Rear window defrost, Bilstein 5100 shocks, 35x12.5x17 Toyo AT2 Extremes, Customized H2 alloy wheels, Original rock rails with family friendly steps welded on, Tri fold tonneau, Hi-lift extreme jack, Tool box along with all the essential PW gear. New winch cable, Winch TPS bypass, Cardan joint grease zerk discovery. New front grille assembly. Magnesium Chloride under coating.

If you ever happen to see me running somewhere, you should start running too. :)

 There I go again! Yep...ordered one too. The wife's eventually gonna catch all of these "surreptitious" purchases for my rig....but I'll take my butt chewing like a man and then go climb into the dog house. The :winchmob: and PWR is becoming a bad influence on me.

Wives across the country will probably set up interventions and an addiction support group complete with a full 12 step program!

I figure it would be good insurance to prolong the life of the steering box.

I told my wife last night I cancelled my order for lift parts and was going to buy some other cool shit. She didn't seem to care. I might even buy the Purple cranium front diff guard, it looks too cool! I saved a little money by not lifting it up. It was $175 for the lift parts, then I would have to buy taller jack stands, another $90, then an alignment, another $60...

My wife doesn't really say too much on my purchases, as long as I have my fat commission checks coming in every month from work! And she just spent $240 on some new Oakleys last night...

My wife is usually pretty good about it, too...but I just spent a whole bunch getting the custom rock sliders and custom prototype rear diff skid......so, she is currently back into Scot-thrifty mode.....until she sees another antique she "has" to have!

All she really said to me last night was make sure we have enough money for our Yellowstone trip next month... I CAN HANDLE THAT! We'll just eat cheap fast food everyday and you can only buy two t-shirts... :D

I almost bought the Hell Bent Steel brace, but then found this one for $40 more, and it looks much cooler!

I emailed HBS this morning to see if their brace fit the PW. I just received this response. :jawdrop:
Thank you for your interest in Hell Bent Steel! Unfortunately, we do not offer anything for the Power Wagon models, because the front axle is not one solid piece, like a regular Dodge 2500/3500, the stabilizer does not mount the same. I apologize we are unable to help you at this time, have a great day!

I sent this back to her... :D
Emily,

The Power Wagon does in fact have a solid front axle like all other Dodge 2500/3500 trucks. The issue is with the electronic sway bar disconnect that interferes with the steering brace on the passenger side. I know of one other company that makes a brace with a notch to clear the sway bar but wasn’t sure if your product cleared or not. At any rate, I’ll take this as a “no” on fitting the Power Wagon.

Maybe she was confusing it with a Rapturd.

Really....well maybe she didn't know but that business should get someone a little bit more knowledgable to answer about their products. I mean if she just typed ram power wagon into google, solid front axle is like the first thing that you see. Well back on topic, I will say that the DT Pro Fab steering brace is really nice. I noticed a difference as soon as I put it on and it does have a sort of asthetic appeal as well.

If their pre-sales is that *knowledgeable* about their products and what they fit, then it's a company to steer clear from.

And I have the DTProFab. Great brace. It's twice as heavy as the BD brace I used to have.

I owuld have kept the BD brace, but after getting the new huge factory steering box, it no longer fit. So I had to order the 09-12 brace because of the bigger shaft. BUT, the sway bar mount holes were too not wide enough, by 1/4". I found out that the 3G trucks front frame is offset by 1/4" wider. So I had to grind out the holes to make it fit. I called up DTProFab, and they explained the offset, and thanked me for the new scenario - a 3G with a new bigger factory steering box replacement.

Money well spent. I put a DT brace on my ST at same time I did the Carli suspension with about 200 mi. on it. Wouldn't really know what it would feel like without it but I can say my front end feels rock solid all the way up through the steering column. Even with the world's heaviest front bumper. Still only have 2600 miles on it, but hopefully the steering shafts hold up and stay that solid for awhile.
