2014 Rock Sliders

Post by TheDirtRoad » Sun Nov 09, 2014 7:32 pm

Well I finally got them built and installed, they are similar to white knuckle with a few changes (mounting location and expanded metal inserts) should be just as tough, I used 3/4" studs to mount them except for the front mount which is a 7/8" stud through the frame. The drivers side was a real PITA to install . I know the Line X will get worn on the underside but they look so good right now.

Not to hijack a thread, but jbm, you seen the set that I'm looking to have built? I deal with a few welding outfits with work, might be able to swing something to try and have a few sets built if you're interested.

I had a local welding shop build them,I was going to build them myself but then I got to second guessing my welding skills since I only weld on small projects.
There is $200.00 in steel, $500.00 to weld them , and $200.00 for the Line X. The fasteners (studs) I already had, I did price 5/8" x 4" grade 8 bolts and they were close about $8.00 a piece with nuts.I didn't price washers . So that is over $100.00 for fasteners. So my $25.00 3/4" drill bit was the better choice, originally they were drilled for 5/8". So total cost to me was $925.00 That is US dollars for our Canadian friends ;)

For that price, why didn't you just go with the White Knuckle sliders? Aren't they about $1100 OTD?

Can you post what you're looking at? I am VERY interested as well. This is my next major mod. Sooner the better for me. I like Dirt Road's, that is exactly what I'm thinking, but I'll consider other quality designs as well. Bolt on mounting using Grade 8 hardware sandwiched around the frame, with step bump outs is my ideal set-up.

Not only does White Knuckle not make them for the 2014's yet, Why would I want to spend more for something ($925.00 vs $1100.00) ? Plus my outer rub rails are .250 and I put in the expanded metal. Designed the way I wanted them.

Here's a design I found.

Have had a local guy look at them about a year or two ago.

But here's some pictures. Obviously modifiable. For us albertans and Canadians, if we get a few orders together I should be able to pimp myself out for a decent price.

The problem for some of us is the shipping on the White Knuckle, even if they start making them for 2014 and up. When I priced them out for my 2011 it was a lot to get them up to Alberta.

You find someone to build 'em, ill line up to buy a set. The only difference I'd like to see is them flare out an 1-1/2" or 2" at the back end, to kick the ass off the truck off stuff as your grinding them.

Hi Kelly,

This is an uncommon truck around here and finding an alternate has been futile. I did hear back from my original truck donator, who is very giving but short on time, and he is looking at dropping off his 2014 2500 Diesel within the next couple of weekends.

Thanks!
John

That's the response I received last from white knuckle. Doesn't look good on getting a set and as mentioned it will cost us a fortune to ship to alberta. I'm with u guys for for finding a local guy to build for us
