Memorial Day weekend fun

Post by SilverWagon05 » Tue May 29, 2012 2:25 am

Well, we got away for a couple of days last weekend. Didn't do any actual camping, but we did get to spend some quality time together, having fun. We stayed at my dads place up in the Jemez mountains, near Cuba, NM. My wife, our 2 boys, my sister, her husband, their 2 girls, my dad and myself all had a blast! We did some trail riding on the quads, some fishing at the private lake next to my dads cabin and some good old relaxing. We didn't venture out too much, as this area is always crawling with people during the holiday weekends. We didn't get a lot of pics, but here are a few phone pics we did manage to get. The first 2 are us all loaded up (I didn't get a pic before we left, so this is one from right before I unloaded, after returning home). The next 3 are some of us on our quads, at the top of Blue Bird Mesa and my 6 year old riding his brothers quad. The small lake (Dear Lake) by my dads place, and my dad, my oldest son, my brother-in-law and his oldest daughter fishing. Caught and released about 40, 9-18 inchers (Rainbow Trout) in 3 hours. My 6 year old riding his dirt bike (Honda CRF50). The view through the window, from inside my dads cabin, down towards Cuba. What you see here, is all the smoke rolling in from the wildfires currently burning in southern NM. It started rolling in Saturday evening, as we were inside having dinner. Then last, everyone's exhausted on the ride home.

Looks like a great trip!

Love the last photo the best though... You know you have done good if they both sleep on the trip home!

Yeah, that is a good feeling! My 10 year old didn't fall asleep, but he was darn close.

We kept 2 of them. My dads got about 20 in the freezer there at the cabin all the time. We usually do cook some up on the pit grill he's got, but his time we already had a bunch of burgers and dogs to cook up. Good stuff!
