frustrated with dodge

Post by trucker799 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 7:31 pm

I am very frustrated with the dealer. I took my truck in on july 4th with a fuse box issue where I didn't have a left turn signal or brake light on my boat trailer. I googled it after searching wires to see if I had a broken wire siomewhere. My lady's truck worked fine so I knew it was from my truck's wiring. The google search showed a relay built into the fuse box where the whole fuse box had to be replaced. It's crazy that the relay blows before the fuse does.. Anyways I took it into dodge because I have an extended warranty. While it was in I wrote up some other things to look at because my warranty expires august 10th. Front locker wouldn't lock without driving for quite awhile, Noise coming from rearend like gears, powersteering pump or gearbox whining when it gets warm and steering gets hard sometimes and a couple other minor things. SO they decide it's a fuse box BUT "has to be shipped in from minnesota 3 days". So I wait..... Then they check front locker and find a bad actuator... " have to order it in from minnesota 4 days"... SO I wait.... They say "nothing wrong with power steering but air in the system.. We'll bleed the air out"... So after 2 weeks they call me and say "it's done"... I pick it up wednesday night and on the way home I pull into parking lot to check lockers.. Rear locker locks immediately..(too fast).. Front locker wont lock without driving 1/2 mile across parking lot then when I try to unlock.. rear locker wont disengage... At least dash knob says its still locked up... Steering locked up on me in parking lot twice.. So take it in friday (today) and drop it back off.. They call me and say " big problems, rear diff is destroyed. bearings and parts fell out when cover pulled off. surprised it still drove.. Have to order complete diff. 1 week to get new diff.. from wisconsin.... I ask " why didn't tech pull cover when I told you I heard gear noises from rear end?? There response... "good question"?? WTH I am do to go camping next wednesday with my trailer.. Supposedly they now hope it will arrive tuesday with special priority... They say they are going to put a psp on it just because. I ask what if its steering box?? They say "don't know".. WTH... Thouroughly torqued right now...

Man....sorry to hear all that! When it rains, it really pours sometimes. Sounds like a service department with crappy work habits is the biggest part of the problem! I guess I've been lucky (so far). The mechanics and service folks where I take my rig have been real good....once again....so far. Hope it all works out soon.

no we were in a dirt parking lot that time. The evening before I was on pavement trying to get them locked up which I know is rough on them to get locked but didnt know of any dirt close to me.. The tech was not happy that morning either. He didnt say 2 words to me the whole time. I am going to see if the dealer will work with me on a new warranty since I have had to wait 3 weeks for my truck..

I long for the good ol' days when you could take your vehicles to a MECHANIC.
Best of luck with this shitty situation.

I feel your pain. There is no longer "mechanics", but "parts replacers". They will throw parts at a problem until they think they have it fixed.

Sorry for your troubles. I feel your pain. My dealer SUCKS the big one too. I try VERY hard to never-ever go there. My neighbor just bought a new compass/patriot from them or at least tried to. They agreed on a price w/salesman & owner over rode the salesman & raised the price $2400 !!! They walked away. Another sales gone, he went elsewhere. They will be out of business within a few years probably.

Parts replacers SUCK. I had brought my truck in 3-5x for front end wander issues---while under warranty. He (the parts replacer) diagnosed my truck while smoking his cigarette & leaning against the wall. Yes sir, at 21 yrs old, that little frucker knew so much, he didn't even have to drive or get under my vehicle. I was SO fruckin impressed, i went to talk to the owner. The owner said "i'm rollin with my tech on this." So, then i told him what i thought of him, his tech & the new dealer. I told him to make sure he renews his handicap parking tag, because i actually know mentally challenged people who are smarter than you & physically challenged ones that can do more than your tech. I have not been back there since, except for oil filters. Things like this happen when they run the little guys out of dealerships & you have to deal with volume dealers that only try & get the sale, then they don't know you. It seems like no one cares anymore that you spent $50k on their product. I saw an F-450 for $72k the other day !!! Since the new F-450 was introduced a few super bowls ago, the price has gone up more than my parents paid for their entire farm back in the 70's.

Sorry to hear you're troubles, too.

Not all dealers are the same. If you know the folks in the service dept, or one of the techs, it makes things easier. It seems they're hitting at things one at a time, instead of listening closely to your complaints. I honestly would call Chrysler customer service on this one, and make sure you ask for someone that actually eats Thanksgiving dinner, so you only have to explain the story ONCE.

well sorry I haven't updated but my dad passed away early august so lots to do with that.. I got my truck back in time to make my trip and the service manager said it was ok to pull the load on the new rear axle so I did. Within 50 miles I was pulling my 5er up eisenhour pass.. Not good on new rearend but they said it was ok.. Still have ps issue with a new pump. I'm thinking its a gear box now. Sounds like when you turn the wheel all the way to the left how ps pump howls??? Not quite as loud but definitely noticeable.. Spent over 2 weeks trying to get ahold of service mgr on new warranty. Finally he calls me and says "I will take $500 off of list price" I checked 3 other dealers and nobody sells it for list. In fact I found it for $250 less than his "offer"... I sent the general mgr of dealership a letter now just waiting on a reply...

Well the dealer put in a new ps pump/hoses/ brand new gearbox. I think the ps issue is resolved... got a 4yr. 60k extended warranty for $2500... I figure pulling my 5'er that the tranny will go within the next 60k miles so figured it was a good investment.. I am hearing a little noise from the rearend so I hope that it is just breaking in still., Only have about 3k on new rear diff... Will be really mad if the rear diff starts acting up again..

Sorry to hear about your dad.

I think the rear noise is like a chatter? I remember when I first got the truck it was making a weird noise in the rear. It went away after awhile.

Fluid is cheap---compared to getting stranded somewhere. Pull the cover off & check things out. Pinion nut torque comes to mind. Put a Filter-Mag GP-101 inside the diff housing. Keep us posted please.
