diablo intune 1000dcx
So I am brand new to this forum and this is my first post on a forum ever, but i finally got to start modding mine. the stock tires went bad so thats where i started. most of that went well, but the first problem i have is that when my front end starts to articulate and the wheels are turned the tires rub on the inner fender well right inside the flares in the back. i think the problem is the stock control arms being too short. i dont want new ones yet as i cant lift until a year from now due to shipping costs because that is when plan to leave Hawaii. i dont want to buy new arms just to replace them with a long arm 4in. bds lift. my second and more pressing issue is the i cant notice the slightest difference from my tuner. i hope im just using it wrong. please help.

Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
oh. sorry. i thought it would show up when i typed the mods into my profile. i havent done much yet i just have been researching stuff and making wishlists. so far 1" daystar leveling kit, 1.5"wheel spacer, both to attempt to fit 315/70R17 Procomp extreme mt2 tires on stock wheels. and a kind of fabbed exhaust. had a shop make a custom exhaust with a super 40 and i asked for 3in., but when i got the truck back it had 2.5". so i cut off the tailpipe at the muffler.(which is annoyingly loud in the cab since it resonates under the bed.) still have stock cats. the only other thing right now is this tuner that i haven't completely figured out.
Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
oh yeah. sorry, 2011 crew cab pw.
Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
The factory rims backspacing works best, if you start spacing it out, ,like you've done, you'll start rubbing the fenders. May I ask why you want to lift it? I personally don't have a lift, only Thuren offset control arms and run 37's on the factory rims with no spacers.
As for the tuner, did you get the Hemifever tune or just the blanket Diablo Tune? I highly suggest contacting Sean at Hemifever. I have the same tuner and it really woke my truck up. Much stronger than factory and better fuel economy.

I only do what the majority of the 4 voices in my head tell me to. In most cases, I ignore two of them because one doesn't speak English, and I suspect the other is talking to someone else.

Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
The general consensus on the 4G's is that you can squeeze 315/70/17 tires on the factory rims but that is with no suspension lift and you will rub the control arms and might rub the fender wells. With the 1.5" wheel spacers you can likely get rid of the control arm rub but you will run into exactly what is happening to you which is fender well rubbing. Most also recommend longer control arms with any kind of lift, even just the 1" one you have.
Are you running the stock wheels, if so try removing the wheel spacers. You will rub the control arms turning at full lock but you may get rid of the fender rubbing. I run 315/70/17 tires with no lift on my 2011 and that is what happens for me. I just have to be careful making tight turns but off road the truck articulates well and doesn't rub the fender wells.
Hope that helps. I can't comment on the Diablo as I run a Bullydog GT.

Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
i only put the leveling kit and spacers on because i read on the forum somewhere that i needed to to fit 35's. I ran for a few days without the spacers because they hadn't come in yet and as will said the inner fenders don't rub but the control arms do. The tuner is just straight out of the box and updated online. i couldn't find out how to get other tunes. Also, i cant understand how to work the data logging. i get it to record, but then I don't know how to view it. It says that playback is not yet supported. How do you go about getting custom tunes. the big problem for me is my time zone, I work during the week and some weekends and if i cant call for tech support before lunch then the companies are closed already. plus i cant have my phone at work to call during a break. i guess I'll try to see what I can get done with email.
Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
Yes you will rub the control arms, I ran a full set of 35's , you just get used to how far to turn and most of the time, you're not on them anyway. They will clear in all other aspects though. Maybe you can take a 1/2" off the spacers and find a happy medium...Doug12437 wrote:i only put the leveling kit and spacers on because i read on the forum somewhere that i needed to to fit 35's. You can't view the data logging, get up with Sean at hemifever and he'll get you fixed up over email, you send him the data, he sends you back a tune to upload. Here's the email.

Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
I'm going to take off the wheel spacers and see if they will let me return them. I agree that I would rather rub the control arms at full lock than not be able to articulate. I know The truck doesn't need a lift, but I just would like it to be a little higher. so when I get back to the main land I will lift it then. Will the power wagon 4in. bds long arm lift work without giving my any clearance issues? I also will probably get maybe some Carli +600 springs because I would like to get the road armor bumber which i believe is a bit heavier than stock. I'm not sure if those springs would be too heavy, maybe +300. I'll do the math when it gets closer to buying parts. I also know that bds has an option for rear springs instead of blocks. Does anyone know if those springs are decent? maybe I should make those carlis also I really don't know. i didn't see any reviews on any of the bds stuff. Either way that stuff is a long way off. The things I think I'll do soon is Cai, headers and exhaust, and a cam. Does anyone have any advice for these items? also I emailed Sean at hemifever and i want to do that but i don't know whether to get his tune now or wait till I get the bolt ons and cam done before i get a tune. He kind of made it sound like every time I change performance parts on my truck I'll have to pay $125 every time for a new tune. The stuff I'm looking to put on is going to be over the next year, so it will be spread out due to a tight budget and a wife who doesn't really understand why i want to change the truck since it isn't broken. I could use all the advice I can get before I do something like spending $300 on an unnecessary leveling kit and wheel spacers that will just cause different issues.

Can't tell you about a lift but the tuner will pay for itself with the better fuel economy you will have. I picked up right at 3mpg average. I'm on 37's too so not sure how much a gain with 35's.

I've never used the logging on mine but I'm fairly certain you have to have an SD card in It for it to log and write the data to. Does it have an SD slot? I'm not familiar with the InTune, I have a Trinity.

No, it stores the data within itself, then you plug into your PC and email hemifever the data, he reads it and adjusts accordingly.Stickman wrote:I've never used the logging on mine but I'm fairly certain you have to have an SD card in It for it to log and write the data to. ok. wheel spacers off and returned. Going to get a tune from Sean. then once I'm done with bolt-ons, I'll get it re-tuned. does anyone have advice for cai, throttle bodies, and headers and exhaust?
Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
oh yeah, I saw the bds lift link before, but do you think that the 4in. kit would cause the same trouble? if so, who should I look into for a different lift?

Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
CAI is kind of personal preference, a few have the Airraid and like them, I think a couple have K&Ns too. Moe's Performance is what a few have for throttle bodies and then JBA shorty headers. Then Flowmaster, Corsa or a custom setip for the exhaust.

I had the Airaid on my 2011 (along with a Magnaflow 24" muffler and y pipe and a Bully Dog tuner) and liked it. I am just about to trade in my 2011 for a 2014 so I just took the Airaid off to sell it. That gave me the chance to see if there was any difference in power with or without the CAI on. Unloaded I can't really feel a difference but when towing my trailer I noticed a slight drop in power with the CAI off. It was loud and had a drone right around 2900 rpm at part throttle.Doug12437 wrote:ok. wheel spacers off and returned. i saw the vararam intake and liked it for a couple of reason one being removes the factory air box. I was hoping to put a second battery where the air box is if i go that route. i was worried however about water and stuff for off roading with that intake.

Member Will on here bought one of those and ended up returning it when he couldn't get it to seal to the underneath side of the hood. It wasn't really made for our trucks, just the 1500s. He did a full review of it over in his build thread.

Yep, I like the concept of the Vararam but not how it doesn't fit the HD hood. I'm back to running a stock box, the main reason I wanted something different was to eliminate that possibility of sucking in water. Been thinking about just putting an old school pancake filter on top.

Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
I've got the Moe's 85mm throttle body, and if I did it again I think I'd go with fastman. The Moes TB is ported to 85mm before and after the butterfly valve, but it still uses a 80mm stock butterfly valve. My throttle response improved a good bit, but that could be due to the stock TB having 100,000 miles on it. It does feel a little stronger, but that could be me hoping I didn't just waste $300.Doug12437 wrote:ok. wheel spacers off and returned. I've got a K&N filter and filter wrap on, and flowmaster 'American Thunder' cat back- not sure if that's the exact name. Both were on the truck when I got it. It's not loud, it's got a low rumble and it sounds like a truck.
Now I'm looking at tuners too. From what I've heard, tuners mostly help with firming up shifts and removing torque management. I've got a G56, and I'm wondering if a tune will really help enough for me to feel the difference. Most of my driving is in the 1000-2700 rpm range.
Is the trinity worth the price difference from the intune 1000dcx? Either one I'd buy from Hemifever.
Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
From what I understand, the inTune will do everything the Trinity will do performance wise. The Trinity has some features to record 1/4 mile times and stuff like that and is dash mountable and looks cool. The inTune is like an I phone, just make your adjustments, then unplug it. You can unplug the Trinity as well. My personal opinion is unless you're literally racing your truck and trying to get the most out of it, the inTune is all you need.
I have not owned a Trinity, this is what I understood by speaking to Matt at Moe's when I ordered mine.

Re: diablo intune 1000dcx
Will is right, the Trinity is only needed if you like to monitor things like engine and trans temp, spark and a variety of other things, along with the drag strip feature for 1/4 and 1/8 mile times and 0-60/0-100 ETs. If you don't want/need to see info and have it available to use all the time then the intune is the way to go.
