Very nice! Where in Texas are you going?

Heading to Wichita Falls to visit an old military buddy who's now one of the head design engineers at Air Tractor. Then to Ft. Worth to visit another guy who was my neighbor in Alaska, whos is home from the Desert on a mid-deployment break, then to Waxachachie to visit another buddy I used to fly with. Hoping we'll get some off-road time in there.

I thought I read that the grill is red billet aluminum, can you tell is that correct?

Yeah, I'm a little salty about that. All the ads say "color billet grill inserts", which the only material I know that's "billet" is Aluminum, but these are that standard grill plastic material. Not happy when I was going through the truck & grabbed them & felt that awful plastic wobble .

I did some research and apparently billet aluminium and a billet grill are not the same thing, however a billet grill can be made out of billet aluminium but it does not have to be, as you found out.

Billet is French word and is defined as multiple slits in a barrier with today's automakers extending that definition to close-stitched mesh, a looser sports mesh, hex-shaped or polished straight bars or tubing.

A billet is a solid block of aluminum (or any material) with the size depending on the size of your desired part. The larger the desired part, the larger the billet. Contrary to casting, billet parts are created by removing excess material from the billet, essentially the part is carved out of solid aluminum rather than cast into a mold.

Thanks---learned something today! Well, I do like the color inserts for sure, it's one of the reasons I chose the std. PW over the Laramie, BUT, since they're plastic, I won't feel as bad about switching to one of those LED lighted T-REX torch all metal grills in the near future.

I looked on T-Rex's site awhile back and they didn't even make those grilles with the built in LEDs for our trucks, atleast not yet. I was thinking about buying one of those instead of Line X'ing my grille, but they didn't have them so I said hell with it.

I put my model & yr into JEGS & those T-Tex torch grills came-up as matching parts. I also cross checked w/ their website & it also showed they'd fit??!

Hmmmm, interesting. I did forget you have a '14 and I have a '12, but how in the world does the '13-'14 grille not fit a '12?? It's the same damn thing isn't it? Or did they change the way it mounts?

I was a much more recent graduate of the South Hudson Institute of Technology. I'm the one who should be calling you sir, sir. I bought my 3G used with some help from the cow loan, and broke it in on the trails out at Buckner. We got a foot of snow around Halloween a couple years ago, and I pulled at least 5 of my classmate's cars out of the parking lot. That earned me a couple pitchers at the firstie.

This year is our year. I like what we're doing with the new coach.

Ah, the Firstie club--fond memories of that place, when I could get away Thur or Fri to go when I wasn't studying for a Fluids, Vibes, or Thermo test . That's an awesome cadet car to have, good for you on the truck and for scoring beers at the Firstie club. My Firstie car was a corvette, not very practical, and not very useful, but I was naive and dumb at 21, and well, thought chicks dig power, wait, err, I guess I still think that, or I wouldn't have just bought a GD 400+ HP tyranasaurs rex of a car. Some habits never die.

Take it from an old grad (20 yr reunion next fall!) that time flies in the service. I can't believe I'm almost to retirement eligibility already, feels like my wild LT days were yesterday. I'm actually meeting up with my cow roommate tomorrow in Columbus for a Irish festival. Those bonds are forever.

Where are you stationed? Branch? I have seen Navy beat us senseless for over a decade now, and it's despicable. We were actually GOOD when I was a cadet. But I like the new coaches' mindset, and I watched that game last yr where his Ga. Southern team whipped Florida pretty good, so I am hopeful.

G2 and H3 for me. I'm at drum now, FA. We're looking at JRTC early 2015. Hopefully after all that I'll have some money saved up for a cam swap and some headers. I may get down for Army-Airforce and hopefully Army Navy this year. I do remember laughing at my fellow classmates with high HP rear drive cars as they dug out with dust pans and E-tools. I'd offer to pull them out, but those cars don't really have good tow points even with a tow truck multi key.
