Like to drive them, don't know crap about them. Help me?

The 6" lift is required to clear 35's at full compression when I do find myself jumping a drainage ditch or a train track. If I could go with a lower lift, and find someone to baja out my fenders to avoid hitting/cutting... then maybe I'd go that route. ... but it still wouldn't help navigating the ditches, when I found myself high centered at factory height all the time. Also, my pumpkins can be in the snow, but once my body hits... I'm stuck.

Most stock 3G PWs will take a 35 at full stuff with no additional lift, 4Gs not so much. Adding 6" lift to a PW will give you a total of about 8", because the factory includes about 2" lift as stock. KORE has/had hand laid fiberglass Baja fenders that you could buy direct, don't know if they still sell those but worth a call. Once your body hits, you will already be dragging your skid plates. I'd rethink this lift thing. Do a search on here and on DodgeTalk for threads about BDS lifts. I think some guys have had less than splendid experience with them.

Those fields in your pics would never pass for fields out here. They look more like graded and laser leveled pads for a housing development. You might get by with a Carli setup in that stuff.

Call and talk to Carli or Thuren! My personal choice is Don Thuren because he is more about what you need or want for your personal uses or limitations. Both are a great choice though.

Adding 6" lift to a PW will give you a total of about 8", because the factory includes about 2" lift as stock. KORE has/had hand laid fiberglass Baja fenders that you could buy direct, don't know if they still sell those but worth a call. Once your body hits, you will already be dragging your skid plates. I'd rethink this lift thing. Do a search on here and on DodgeTalk for threads about BDS lifts. I think some guys have had less than splendid experience with them.

Those fields in your pics would never pass for fields out here. They look more like graded and laser leveled pads for a housing development. You might get by with a Carli setup in that stuff.

I'm not married to BDS. Not at all. No worries there. I want BETTER.

When I say 6" lift, I am referring to my current ride height with 6" on 1500's. I'm aware that most kits for PW's are in the 4-4.5" range to get me to that neck of the woods in ride height. I'm fine with that.

I know we're spoiled with our fields here. It's Ag country, so we have farmers that run 60,000 acres and have tens of millions of dollars stuffed into the largest newest equipment money can buy. They roll in to a field they purchase with excavators, scrapers, and rock pickers, turning it into a nice flat well-drained piece of dirt... and then a computer-driven tractor does the rest of the work until a computer-driven combine comes in a few months later. Those fields sit completely bare and full of nice snow pack for 4-5 months a year... and its beautiful for ripping around in when the ground is frozen. That muddy road is the road to my house... so it isn't like my trucks don't see daily use... because they do.

I'm really leaning toward Carli suspension. Mr. Smith was kind enough to reach out with a phone number earlier, so I soaked up some of his knowledge for a bit. He mentioned Mercenary Offroad in california for a builder... and while their trucks look amazing, and I'm sold on that a-bomb bumper... I HATE going to cali. It's by far one of my most hated states... right there with illinois and new york. I'm a class 3 firearms dealer, ex-military, and well armed 24/7... so going to states like that makes me feel like I've entered soviet Russia. Pretty much a deal breaker, actually. So the only option there would be to have it shipped there, work done, then shipped to me. Not outside the realm of possibility... but not my most favorite option either.

That Thuren stuff is pretty incredible too. I think it will come down to what builder I get hooked up with, and what they are confident in doing.

Those are pretty sweet! Hmmmmm lol. Fiberglass breaks to easy when I'm squeezing thru tight spots but something to think about when I go 42" tires next lol.

The ram runner is a $70,000 to $80,000 total POS. It addresses few of the shortcommings of the IFS and is very poorly tuned. It relies on stiff suspension to keep from bottoming out and rides like a tank. I can't stand the guy (Kent Kroeker) either... he is a total jerk and all the racers I know hate him for the same reason.

I say: Get a 2014/2015 Power Wagon. By doing so, you will have the option to regear to 4.56's, 4.88's (i think) or 5.13's. You can also get the dual alternators (a MUST IMHO), Engine is more powerful & has more displacement. As far as the rest, it is up to you. I can highly recommend Carli. Dropped the entire weight of my front end on a rock once & it landed square on my Carli Cro Mo + .5" control arm. No issues, no bends. Carli ball joints & track bar as well. PSC steering gearbox brace. Articulation & lockers are key when crawling through ditches. A 14,000lb Pull-Pal (http://www.pullpal.com/) may be in order, due to the wide open fields & lack of anchor points for the winch.

Why not just have Lee or 05PWrockcrawler build you one? Both of them have built their trucks along the lines of both being able to rock crawl along with soak up the whoops at high speed. I'm guessing they could do it for a hell of a lot less. Hell, depending on where you live their are probably some guys on here who know what they're doing who put it all together, might as well learn about it so when it breaks on the trail you aren't stranded trying to figure out why the flux capacitor let go.

Call Carli and talk to them about what you want to do with your truck - believe me, they'll build you a list of parts to get you right where you want to be. Call High Country Performance (http://hcp4x4.com), they're a Carli dealer and only about 10 hrs from you, if my guess is right about where you're at in SD. Drive down, drop the truck, rent a 4x4 vehicle (probably a Jeep - get the extra insurance) - follow the books to places to wheel the rental (like it's a rental) for a few days. Come back, pick up your bad ass truck, and go run down some four legged calf-stealers. The good news is that you should get a better gas mileage on the way back home since your wallet will be a lot lighter than it is today.

I agree the new PW's have a lot to offer but once again them going back to the goofy two piece axle shaft really would make me think twice. Maybe I'm totally off, but it was a design in the 90's a lot of companies used and seemingly everyone went away from. Adding more moving parts into the axle and making the axle tube multiple parts just seems like it would make it significantly weaker but once again if I'm jacked up let know

I always check the muffler bearings and the blinker fluid to be sure the flux capacitor won't let go unexpectedly. I think AEV is working on a Plus5 unobtanium capacitor and that is why their release has been delayed.

I'm a built not bought guy but I would love to be able to drop off my truck on a Monday and pick it up on a Friday ready to go kick ass. I wish the wagon was more of a speed demon for hunting, I love the ol' high-speed tracking. I need the wagon for what it was built for and unfortunately speed ain't it. I would get something a little more tuned to the high speed. That doesn't mean a raptor but really it would be better suited for what you want to do. If you toss enough green at a truck it will do whatever you want, just seems like you are trying to make a rocket out of a dc10.

The 09 and up PW has the VVT engine with 388 HP and 407flb of torque and with the 456 gears I would think they are evenly matched. But the 345HP <08 will likely be a tic slower. Not sure it matters though because they are so different they really don't compare on any level.

90 MPH in fields............I call B.S. Will you be going with the rows or across? If it is pasture land you have a death wish as you can't see or negotiate every rut, hole, etc. You will be either dead or picking up your front end 200 feet behind you. Enjoy the repairs and medical bills.

Been doing it for 20 years... and I am fine. Your concern for my welfare is touching though. I see this is a point of contention with some, so allow me to explain.

Where I live, it is corn fields, wheat fields, and bean fields as far as the eye can see. They are nice and flat and cultivated. I have lived here all my life, so I know every inch of every field I run in. Going cross corn rows is rough... but not too bad most of the time. The faster you go, the smoother it is. I live 18 miles from my work, so I go at least to and from once every day.

It's called knowing how to drive. As I said, I don't know how to build them, but I can drive them.

Flat land, what is that? Even so, knowing every inch-that is impressive. Driving across corn rows at 90, now that's even more impressive. Thanks for reminding me why it's risky to buy used.

Depends. On smooth asphalt, the 1500 will be faster. In slicker-than-snot mud the PW will be a whole lot faster, even if it's only crawling.

I'd just go with the Robinson helicopter... Probably cheaper in the long run ...If I wanted to GO FAST, I wouldn't start with an expensive, HEAVY 3/4 ton truck.
