Extending the OCI in the 'Wagon

If it's about Power Wagons, all generations, this is where it'll go. This is the original PWR Forum Power Wagon Technical Discussion Section. And this includes everything that doesn’t fit in any one of the other categories related to the truck goes here!

Diesel motors in pickup trucks---trucks started lasting 500,000+ miles. No no no, we have to go to low sulphur diesel. (lubricates upper cylinder & helps make engines last)
Gasoline engines started lasting 2-300,000+ miles. No, no, no, we have to get rid of zinc & phosphorus in the oil. (reduces friction & keeps engines clean)
Diesel motors in pickups still lasting 400,000 miles. No no no, we have to go to Ultra-Low sulphur diesel. (trucks still seem to be lasting too long---lets reduce it more)
Diesel pickup owners start making their own bio-diesel in their garages. No no no, they want you to have a "petroleum distillers license" (This a pollution-free vehicle, you would think that the EPA would want & encourage it, but no, they throw more road blocks in your way.)

Environmental Profit Agency maybe ?
You could do that...or you could make it simpler and just use Rotella T6 :D And yeah I feel the same way about the EPA. They are some pieces of work that's for sure. Another thing I hate...you can get brand new Toyota Land Cruiser diesels, Toyota Hilux diesels, the new global Ford Ranger diesel in nearly every other country besides the US. Those trucks all return north of 20mpg. Some even get above 25mpg. Buttt according to the "EPA" they aren't clean enough for our country. Heaven forbid we use trucks that get 25mpg that seem to be working perfect for every other country in the world

Miles, did you ever buy it?

I found Quadratec's as the cheapest, at $69.99 + $14.00 shipping. Other sites want $88 + shipping, except Jegs with free FedEx ground. Matter of fact, Quadtratec is 20-25 minutes from my location, so I'll probably call and see if they are in stock. I'll get one for my truck, and one for the wife's.

Unless they are cheaper somewhere else?

Not yet Ace. I just dropped $250 on new control arm joints/tracbar bushing but I'll try to order it when I get back home. I'm eager to try it out and see how many metal particles it actually catches.

They just took a new Jeep 4-door, put a 6.5" lift, 37" tires, & a Cummins 4bt in it & said it was getting 37 mpg !!!! One of the magazines i get had a tiny little article about it. THAT should have been the cover story !!! "Why is this Jeep getting 27city-37 mpg hwy---yet factory ones get ** mpg ?"

*sigh* No, sadly it doesn't. Really really want to get some LT headers. That's $1600 right there  Then custom bumpers, HID lights, new seats, etc. I wonder why I don't drive a bone stock Honda Accord sometimes. But then again the accord can't go where I can

I'm looking at HID or LED offroad lights. Expensive if I go with the latter. Seats? I was thinking of the SRT Ram seats, Best thing under you a$$ you can find. Also costly. Believe me, I know, I owned an SRT Ram for 3 years.

As for an Accord, I can't get into one, and if I do, I have problems getting out. I have to lean over and put my hand on the street and twist my a$$ out. I guess it's an old guy thing! LOL! If I can't step into a vehicle, then it's probably too small or too low, and I avoid it, or put it in the bed of the truck.

Yes those LED lights are very expensive...but worth it IMO. I think I'm either going to go with a Rigid Industries 40" LED lightbar or a Baja Designs one when the time comes. And I've been wanting more "high performance" seats for a while. Think I'm gonna go with the Mastercraft Baja RS seats. They are suspension seats with reclining capability. Provisions for regular seatbelts, 3 and 5 point harnesses. Customizable with many more options, like a camelback pouch behind the seat so you can drink out of a camelback while driving. Much more side bolstering than the stock seats.

The only thing I'm concerned about buying an LED solution is the technology is constantly changing. It's a new field that a continuously evolving. Their primo bars are based on 10 watt bulbs. Now 20 watts and higher are available. Chris can give you more specifics, since that's one if his specialties.

And I didn't realize your truck is a stick!

Hmm...thanks for the heads up about the LED's. It does suck that you get the top-of-the line lightbar only to have it outdated in a couple months. Does suck. And yeah haha. Got the good ol' handshaker! I love it though. Sometimes it gets old in serious stop-and-go traffic but I have so much more control with a manual truck vs. an automatic. Especially when towing/off-roading.
