Slipping out of 4hi?
New to the forum. Having some trouble with my PW. Whenever I shift into 4hi it doesn't really feel like it sticks in there. If I hit a bump too fast or something I will look down and see my stick has shifted back into 2wd. Same with my sway bar sometimes I'll look down and see it's flashing again.. Whenever I put it into 4lo it takes several tries. I have to put it in neutral shift to neutral on the stick and put it in drive then neutral again then it will finally let me shift it to 4lo. Any ideas?

You might not be getting it all the way engaged. Low range can take a fairly hard shove it get it into position. It may also need to have the linkage adjusted.

Re: Slipping out of 4hi?
Agreed to line up the synchro in the transfer case especially to four low takes some force. Your t case linkage may require adjustement is this a new truck or aged/out of warranty? Any major repairs been done on it recently like transmissons transfer case replacements or something that would change driveline angles? If it's in warranty take it in and have them check the t case linkage and adjust it. I had the same problem with mine kicking out after I did a lift system then the selector lever had to be adjusted.

I have always had problems on newer 4x's untill I started putting it in Neutral. Slips right in but on my older jeeps I have to make its at a bit of a roll or start to put it under load.

Should always put it In neutral and try to park in a place that's gunna let the drive train roll a few inches to let the synchro mesh for 4lo

I know I have had linkage problems with mine before but it always shifts into 4lo or 4hi great. But you do need to use some force. Good luck.

Re: Slipping out of 4hi?
I had a problem with mine popping out of 2wd when I first bought it. I would use 4hi or 4lo, then shift back into 2wd and a little bit after I got driving down the road it would pop out into neutral. I don't know if it was just because it was new or what but it only did it the first 2 or 3 times I used 4x4, after that it never did it again. And I always shift into neutral before shifting the transfer case, I didn't even think it was possible to shift out of 2wd when the trans was still in gear. I always tried it and it felt like I was going to break the shifter off before it moved.
