Update on the Rescue Wagon

Post by OFF-ROAD RESCUE » Thu Mar 27, 2014 3:38 pm

Howdy fellow PWs, haven't been on in awhile. Just wanted to drop a line and show the most recents on the wagon. Recently installed Flexalite single electric cooling fan for Ram 2500 (removing mechanical fan and clutch assy) and have had some great benefits: MPG 13-13.5, 10.5-11 towing, smoother quieter ride, more accurate rapid shifting along with less of the transmission struggling to find the appropriate gear when powering thru turns off-road. 187k miles and still running strong with the original drive line, performing the most complex off road recoveries and rescues thru out the state of Arizona. Any one have any luck getting the PTO mod to work on their wagon? I've been trying on and off for year with no luck or final answers if it is actually possible on a PW or not.

Is yours a 6-speed manual G-56 ? What size tires & what suspension are you running ?

Thanks!! Gotta love the PW. It's the automatic 5-45RFE, running 35" Goodyear Wrangler MTRs, factory suspension with Hellwig 3500# overloads in the rear.

What type of wrecker package is that? Love the truck I did towing and repo work for most of my 20s.

I also have the Hellwig Load Pro 35's on my truck, LOVE em for hauling my toyhauler. Before i put them on, I had to lower the trailer onto the ball, lock it, then crank it all the way back up just to get my weight distribution bars on. Now i can do it with one hand !!!

I was under the impression that the PTO can only be used if you have the 6-speed G-56, but not 100% sure. I thought it was hooked up through the side (there is a cover on both sides) cover of the G56 ??? Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in.

Sweet! I can't wait to get those tires on mine! BTW, I hope you meant 315/70R17 MT/Rs and not the 35x12.5R17? I'm assuming you did, but I just want to make sure.
