Badging delima

Post by jeep_boy02 » Thu Mar 20, 2014 10:36 pm

So here's the deal.... I am a jeep guy through and through, have had this idea since the PW was released. A custom slot grill, "jeep" stamping on tailgate and no dodge badging to basically make it the truck that jeep would offer. I think I'm going to go ahead with the idea but since "power wagon" has always been a dodge branding I'm having a hard time deciding which way I should go with the decals. I really like the hood and gate decals but feel if I leave them it just wouldn't be right. So I'm asking for y'alls thoughts.

Option 1 - leave it be
Option 2 - remove PW decals
Option 3 - replace PW decals with a more jeep oriented name...
J-Truck, Gladiator, J-2010, etc.

Lets here your thoughts and ideas.

If you do it, Gladiator would be a good way to honor the old J series trucks.

 This would be MUCH more acceptable if it towed an "off-road only" jeep on a trailer. Just sayin, it is YOUR truck, do what YOU want. That said, if you could make the grill really look like one, that would be cool, then, on the sides, it could say "Jeep what ever (rubicon)" tow vehicle.

Oh yeah, don't forget 2 of these: http://www.quadratec.com/products/55010_104.htm

I own two Jeeps 1974 and 1980 both Bad Azzz but they are Not a Power Wagon, and the Power Wagon is not a Jeep.. Leave it. Now if you can find some Old school Power wagon decals ..... yeah!!

jeep upside down and backwards is beer.........

then again, I am not sure what help the Power wagon name brings to the table for everytime i walk into Dodge for Parts or Autozone, and Say I want a part for a Power Wagon, they either ask if it is a Station wagon, or a DR Mower "Product".

When I first got the PW, i went to have it sprayed with LineX, and the lady says what do you have and I say, Power Wagon, and she replies, we do not do Station wagons or interiors..... so I walked her outside where her crew was standing staring at my truck..

I'm with Coder and Chiprat leave it alone or remove the stickers if you don't like them. The ST PowerWagons without decals are nice looking pickups.

The thing is, it is not a Jeep, it is a Dodge/Ram. Why put a Jeep name on something it is not? I do like Chiprat's idea about the old PW decals. If you could decal it like the PowerWagon in the old TV series Simon & Simon that would be awesome!

Well I am a jeep guy and have many interested on other forums. I'm not trying to badge something to fool anyone... it's my vision of what jeep would offer if they still did trucks. Which the jeep world has been asking for and teased with for a very long time. Besides the fact that it's not really all that far from reality as jeep is made by mopar now so it would be easy for them to pop on jeep instead of ram anyhow. And honestly the idea of the offerings in our PW's came from the badassery and success of the rubicon from '03 and '04.

I have owned a couple J trucks,a Cherokee Chief and Grand Cherokee (first Jeep with the quad coil suspension that is now standard on most Ram pickups) and have had no desire to debadge, rebadge, or otherwise alter the identity of any of them or my PW. If you want to do something get a graphics company to do a wrap, something that is easy to remove when you out grow this phase and decide it wasn't a good idea after all.

Just my 2 cents.

A wrap is an excellent idea if you want to take it back. Are there any plans to incorporate round headlights onto the truck? Exterior hood latches would look cool too.

Rebadging is a rough subject. I see idiots with 2500 diesels with a lift and winch bumper with pw badging. Also some dealerships have put pw badging to sell a truck. Its a joke. They are pathetic wanna-bees who think pretending to be cool. You have a REAL POWER WAGON!! Why would you want to pretend its something else. Instead of wasting 4 grand n a wrap get an old school jeep truck and put some big tires on it. Then tow it behind the pw. That can be your badging. Just tow the jeep everywhere u go.

This is NOt a Jeep, nor is this an Old style J-truck....It is a Power Wagon the One and only. J-trucks were cool, but they did NOT look like a PW nor does a PW look anything like a J-truck. You have reached into the area of Transgender, and I for one will not touch that..... :lockedandloaded:

Sweet old Power Wagon. My Dad and Uncle use to restore them. He's had at least 20 plus of them over the years.
