Good site to make sure your vehicle is legal
I never even considered the possibility of my truck breaking the law after putting a lift on it a few years ago back in Virginia until I got pulled over so an officer could measure the bumper height. I just so happened to be a hair under the allowable height for the state...if I hadn't it would have been one hell of an expensive mistake. Moving back to the North East has put me on heightened alert for making sure to check all possible idiot laws. Here's a good site to check your state and its vehicle modification laws http://www.liftlaws.com/. Might save you some trouble

True...I think though if your vehicle is registered in another state you may get pulled over and let go with a warning, at least I hope so or its going to be a long summer for me with all the trips to Maine.

Wyoming has tread depth requirements on tires and the normal equipment (headlights, brake lights, etc.). Other than that its fair game for what's on the road. You would not believe some of the "things" I have seen driving around on Wyoming roads. Hell, I have plates on my Polaris and Yamaha 4-wheelers and they are street legal.

Re: Good site to make sure your vehicle is legal
Supposedly we have lift laws up here in the upper peninsula of Michigan, but they don't seem to enforce them for the most part. Heck, a while ago they started allowing ATVs and snowmobiles to use the normal roads (even without plates or lights) and I've even seen 10 year old kids driving around on golf carts...so the whole enforcement thing is pretty lax. Personally, I'm a bit worried that I'll run into an ATV - because I've even seen them out in the dark, and with no running lights (with the driver using one of those elastic lights on their head to see).
Anyway, considering the other stuff out there that the cops ignore, I haven't seen much inclination to enforce the lift laws. There're a couple of trucks around here with 44" tires that are daily driven, and are lifted so high the 44s look small...so in comparison my truck looks like a lowrider.

Pretty much the same in Indiana. If it's got four wheels, lights and a steering wheel, you're pretty much good to go!myoung84 wrote:Oklahoma is pretty much open to anything...
