Sounds like the "ooops" was a untightened connection to a ground or + terminal somewhere. The sparking would make it get hot & fry i would think ? Keep us posted please.

The Service Advisor called me and asked how things were going. Nice of him.

The truck is still working properly but I'm still waiting on an official replay from Chrysler about either:
1) extending my electrical warranty or
2) trading me out and getting me into a new JK Unlimited Rubicon.

The trade value of my truck is insulting, as I've stated. The best trade offer on it so far has been $27,000.

I don't mind keeping the truck. Forever, if I have to. But, with the problems I've had, the incompetant repairs, the downtime, the uncertainty, the nausea, I really feel it's fair to expect a gesture of good faith from them. Let Chrysler demonstrate their confidence in their product.

I did send a link to this site and thread to my contact --- and I'm hoping that he becomes a forum sponsor. He asked me which fullsize forum I though was good to join...

I think I'm being pretty fair and friendly.

You got anything that you tied in to run relays off a hot wire?
Driving light wiered with relay into hi beams, or HID lights?
Heard of issues with power mqanagement computer from this type of modification.
If you got stuff like this, re-wire immediately direct (and grounded) to the battery. No keyed power either!
I have a '10 PW with 300 Watts of lights, GPS, 3000 W inverter, phone booster, and a couple of radios, all powered and grounded directly to the battery.
Truck has 70,000 miles with no electrical issues.
Wish I could say the same about the oil consumption though

I haven't modded or run a single thing on this truck ---- that's what irks me so much.

When you consider all the lights I've tested in Jeeps, it drives me nuts that this truck didn't work right out of the box.

BTW, my friendly Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler contact hasn't replied to my phone calls or emails for over a week. Guess I'm not getting any Chrysler love...

well my 06 just had a tipm failure... It's crazy that the fuse box goes before the fuse.. what is the purpose of the fuse??? The tipm has all the fuses in it and the relays are integrated... Also mine has ben at dealer for 2 weeks with tipm issues among other things.. They changed an actuator for front locker under warranty and now my rear locker wont unlock and my front locker wont engage.. gotta love dealers....I am torqued right now.. 2 weeks ands it will go back in tomorrow..

The PW seems to be running fine. And the MPGs have improved for some strange reason... :o Not that I mind. But it's weird.
Maybe they flashed it or something?

Sorry if I missed it somewhere in this thread, what does the truck do when the TIPM fails?

The reason I ask, my wife has a 2011 Rubicon and we've been having reoccuring issues where it experiences something like a short while driving and then the vehicle has zero power and really won't shift past 35 mph. You have have stop and restart the vehicle to make it driveable again. Dealer has been more or less just throwing parts at it to fix it.

Any number of electrical gremlins can rear their heads when the TIPM acts up or fails. The Wranglers have been having a big problem with that according to the grunts in my dealer's service bay.
Your wife's Rubi might have a bad one. Or a bad ground. Or battery. Or about a dozen other problems...

Thanks for the info. I keep telling myself it has nothing to do with the fact that I installed the winch on it.

GA lemon law isn't all that useful to the consumer. It's a sham and gives lots of rights to the manufacturer.
I'm out of the lemon law period entirely and it's not even 3 years old.

If anything happens that's good for me, it will come from Ed Voyles Chrysler/Ram/Jeep, or Muther FIAT herself.

Going on 63,000.
There's something wrong with the truck's wiring that's causing it.

YIKES! The TIPM should be good for more than 20,000 miles! You definitely got a truck that was built on a bad day. Other than one piece of weather stripping on the door and a ticking in the steering wheel I've had no issues with my truck. Of course, I'm still about 400 miles short of 20,000 miles so it better still be doing good!

My TIPM failed a while back. It was the wiper delay that was not working but I had other odd issues like the truck not unlocking with the FOB at times. I also noticed infrequent but long delays for accessories to activate. Been fine ever since. I sure hope it stays that way.

I hope your dealer can help you... but without any teeth it is unlikely. This truck will likely be a headache for anyone who ends up owning it. You may need to resort to a trade in and loose a few bucks to keep your sanity.

Ya know, my radio glitched yesterday...
Each time it failed, it was a wet day or wet the day before. Yesterday was a bunch of snow & slush driving. Then I was in the lot waiting for my wife to come out of work and the radio just sorta froze and I couldn't change stations. It was playing an FM station but showed that it was on Sirius --- and I couldn't get it to do anything. So I held down the power button for a long time and it finally shut off.
It was about 2 hours later I noticed that the lights weren't working right.
I know that everything was working right in the morning yesterday because I gave it a safety check before heading out in the snow.

Just spoke with Chrysler Customer Care and got a case number. Have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow ---- Chysler will talk with dealer on Monday to decide my fate....

I have had mine repaired 3 times.

Blinkers go crazy, 5th wheel lights go crazy, Windshield wipers go crazy. and all they do is replace the same TIPM. I see no real "Hey this is crap, let help the folks out and design a real fix" IMOP

last time I had mine repaired was due to 5th wheel lights, I seem to live with the blinkers, till late night and I am being followed by Mr. Law....not fun, even if you have had nothing to drink.

Sir, why were your blinkers flashing left and right and then back again? Can you step out of the Truck (bye the way, Nice truck).....
My Reply....they started to do that the last time I pulled a Fire truck out of a field.. usually works.. :)

Well that was a long day.
Ups and downs. Got mad at a tech. Got help from the Service Manager.

I'll probably elaborate later but it looks like it was NEVER a TIPM problem at all. Never. At. All.
Not the TIPM.
Just sloppy wiring.
