TwinStick wrote::rant: I have finally had enough of this shit. I gathered ALL my receipts up for my entire front end and the 3 recalls i have received---NONE OF WHICH apply to my truck according to the dealer---YET ON THE RECALL NOTICE ITSELF it says my DIN# is one of them affected & even lists my exact DIN #. This was all done while it was under warranty at 18,000 miles. It came to $3414.86 + an additional $600 for install of 2 front axle u-joints. Told them the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing & that if i did business like this, I would be OUT of business. Told them i have had nothing but problems with the front end of this truck---UNTIL i replaced it with quality parts & that it was so bad, I couldn't even keep it in my lane when pulling my camper. Now, i have no issues like i did before. I also said, thanks to them & their wonderful dealers, i now own 3 Japanese cars & my next truck (if i can ever afford one) will likely be Japanese also. I don't expect a refund at all, if they do send one, i am sure it will only be for $189.00---the cost of the left tie rod end. I am done with American vehicles PERIOD !!! They had their chance, NUMEROUS times with us. Every time, they seem to stick it up our ass every chance they can. I have had NOTHING but outstanding customer service from the Japanese dealers---IF & WHEN anything does go wrong. I can count the times on one hand between all 3 Japanese cars that anything did go wrong over a combined 253,000 miles. My truck has been in at least 10 times in 30,000 miles and has NEVER been fixed to my satisfaction.
wow....guess i can't blame you for the crap you've gone through. guess i've been lucky for a long time on my chevy and dodge trucks. however back before the wars.....tells my age there....i remember early 80's cars and pickups and what a nightmare they were with emissions and suspensions and drivetrain components.

It has been nonstop for us. Got out of the US Army in 84. 84 Caprice--emission nightmare problems & always ran like shit. 84 Dodge Diplomat--(great st 6 engine)total piece of shit. 94 Chevy Caprice w/LT 1--ate w pumps every 30k, idler pully, tensioner pully, belts, hoses, left us stranded many a times. 88 Ford Ranger bought new- fire inside cab in steering wheel while driving, (great engine 2.9L v-6). 2000 Dakota bought new--transmission went out at 42k. 2004 Dodge 2500 bought new--coil pack went out & drivers door master control window/door pod both went out at 12k, under warranty, they gave me a ration of shit before they finally replaced them ($35 & $120).

2004 Toyota Corolla, bought new---currently 150k on it, sons car now, just normal wear items (brakes, tires, battery, alt, w pump.) 2010 Corolla, bought new, 89k, just normal wear items. 2013 Subaru CrossTrek, 15k, no issues .

See now I am confused... I thought that was the original Y-Steering that was recalled about 5 years back and if you had this setup then they replaced it with the T-Steering. I thought the key was the stabilizer mount.

Anyway OX is at the dealer right now getting something new on her steering :-). Will update everyone on what the NC dealers are doing.

My Recall Notice wrote:The left tie rod ball stud on your truck may fracture under certain driving conditions. This could cause a loss of directional control and/or crash without warning.
Chrysler will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will replace steering linkage components. The work will take approximately 1 hour to complete….
Simply contact your Chrysler, Jeep, or Dodge dealer starting January 6, 2014 to schedule a service appointment. Ask the dealer to hold the parts for your vehicle or to order them before your appointment.

Finally called the dealer about my recall. I'm on the waiting list and it will probably be 2-3 months. They are getting one kit per week...

Same with the dealer I'm using - 1 a week, and if there aren't 2 or 3 thousand 2500's in the area that need this, I'll eat my hat. Could be a looooooooooooong wait.
I'm just along for the ride...

I called my dealer on January 6th (per the recall notice) and asked them to have the parts ready (not knowing & still per the recall notices direction) made an appointment for January 13th. Dropped my truck off at 7am, finally called them at 3:30pm "Well?" That is when they told me "We ordered the parts today"... Still no parts to this day.

Same boat here... 1 per week. I'd rather throw money at carli than wait till may. Plus going back to old style seems like a down grade to me, a hole and flat spot in the tie rod would just create a weak spot.

Mine was inspected a month ago and was told parts would be in sometime in Feb. Well it's almost the end of Feb and still no call from the dealer.

There was no recall on the Y-steering it was only a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB #22-005-06). You had to ask for it to be done, and if you were out of warranty, you pay out of pocket.

I just had the recall done on my truck. The tech told me they have been directed to put the new outer (or lower) tie rod ends on all trucks with the T-steering no questions asked. They simply look to see if you have T-steering steering damper if so, they order the parts and put it on.

The guy I talked with didn't know a whole lot but did know that it's much more than a left side tie rod replacement.

I guess I should probably take off my Carli opposing steering stabilizer and go back to stock for the recall... Don't want to catch any flack from the dealer.

I think it's already been asked before, but is anyone getting alignments done after they swap the tie rods?

I thought I was okay because I had the left tie rod replaced under an earlier recall. I called and I'm #503 on the list and the list is growing. They have only done 18 of them thus far.

Seems they are now replacing the tie rod and both ends as an assembly. I was told that they determined that if enough force is created to break the drivers tie rod end then there was enough force to damage or weaken the passenger tie rod, as a result of that determination they are replacing the entire assembly now.

I created a thread this morning with a link for build sheets. Use that same link to check recalls. Just type in your VIN number and it will tell you what's pending. I think your truck has a build date fairly close to mine (09/11) so you should also be affected.

When I had my recall done I went ahead and replaced the old, worn inner tie rod ends before I took it in since they where going to do an alignment anyway.

I got the Moog parts from http://www.summitracing.com for around $100 and put them on myself, not bad getting a whole new front end for $100 here's a diagram for your viewing pleasure.

The dealer here hasn't even got the parts in yet. They said there is around 800 that need to be done and I am on the list. It will be a couple months before they give me a call. I will be surprised if it is done before the end of Summer.

 I got a call from Chrysler today. Said sorry, we only cover factory parts. I said the dealer refused to fix it under warranty, WTF was i supposed to do ? Her response was "IDK". I told them this "stick it to em after the sale" is exactly the reason i now own 3 Japanese vehicles. I also told them my next truck may also be Japanese because your company botched the deal with Cummins for the 5L that Nissan will now be using. I told them they will prob run themselves into the ground or just be selling something re-badged & made somewhere else, because all of your business decisions are anti-American IMHO. I also told her "I can't think of anything else they could have done to make me want to buy a different brand truck next time more than i do now.
