Add A leafs

Post by foofs » Mon Jun 18, 2012 11:18 am

Ok, so I know it's not the preferred way to go and I've been planning on installing new leafs for awhile, but never pulled the trigger and knowing I'm getting ready to move funds won't be freeing up for a while and I was getting really tired of the sag in my rear end.

So... I installed a 2" add a leaf from skyjacker yesterday. It went ok. I did it by myself in my driveway in about 4hrs. first side was about 3 hrs second side about an hr.

I ended up leaving the springs in the truck and adding the leaf right in place. It looked to me that I wasn't going to be able to get the bolt for the front of the drivers side leaf out without dropping the gas tank so rather than do that I did it in place. Sorry for the limited pics but I was in a hurry.

It ended up raising the rear about 1.5" and definitely made it sit more level. Time will tell how big a mistake it was...

Let us know how it feels on and off road!

I'm carrying so much weight I could use a budget boost myself. Last time I came out of the dump, the scales showed the truck at 8250, so after subtracting my weight, it was close to 8000 with a full tank oof gas.
I'm just along for the ride...

The camper shell, sleeping platform, tools, pulpal, recovery gear, hilift, shovel, jackstand/jack combo, various fluids, ARB fridge, water, 10 days emergency food, survival gear, air compressor, a little bit of armor, etc, etc, etc. Plus the five Nitto Trails are heavy, very heavy. When I last emptied the truck and removed the shell, the rear came up almost 2.5".
I'm just along for the ride...

I just did the same with mine. I got 2 inches of lift and just as much flex. I just went to RC and wheeled the heck out of it. I was still able to get full stuff. Very happy with the cheap mod. Mine was at a local spring shop, not skyjacker.
