Dynatrac free spool locking hubs??
Hey I'm sure many of you have seen the dynatrac locking hub kit for 35 spline axle shafts. Is anyone running one if so do you love it and why did you go with it?? Sick of doing bearings? The ease of service or the fuel mileage increase?

Re: Dynatrac free spool locking hubs??
My reasoning is simply, I like being able to lock and unlock my hubs. Unlock most knuckleheads, I don't have an issue with getting out of my truck to lock the hubs before I need 4x4..
My personal belief is the only net benefit to the companies getting rid of the manual locking hubs is the convenience of not having to get out and lock them in for 4x4. AKA laziness on the part of the consumer.

Re: Dynatrac free spool locking hubs??
Interesting!! We'll id be interested in this design if it's longer service life and better off-road and less open to the elements I know non serviceable bearings don't like water or mud at least if you had the ability to pull them apart and clean em up after wheeling the would last way longer...

Of some interest if wheel bearings are the issue.

Re: Dynatrac free spool locking hubs??
I have the Yukon kit and love it. Picked up 2mpg more per gallon. Hubs turn very easy and only have to turn them a quarter of the way to engage. And if they do break they break in the lock position you you won't get stuck. Check them out as an option. Little bit cheaper also. And I wheel the hell out of my truck so so far so good!

For me it was peace of mind in not having the front axles spinning for no reason, And if something did happen to a front r&p or front u-joints, pinion seals etc, Peace of mind knowing I could still make it home with hubs unlocked. Have had other dynatrac products in the past and liked them, For me it was worth the extra expense to go with a product that I trusted. Also I plan on keeping my truck so for me I see no drawbacks at all. I didn't notice any mpg increase, But I didn't buy it for mpg, It steers a whole lot nicer to.
Here is the thread I posted when I had mine installed . http://forum.powerwagonregistry.org/vie ... f=13&t=198

Re: Dynatrac free spool locking hubs??
I don't know the exact dimensions of any of them, but Spyntec's new shorty version, may possibly be shorter than the Dynatrac units. I have the Spyntec shorties with the Mile Marker hubs and I really like them. Plus, they are substantially less $$$ than the Dynatracs, at about $1,500.wagonlvr wrote:You would be correct, The dynatrac dynalocs are the slimmest I believe by 1/2"myoung84 wrote:Which ones stick out the least? Re: Dynatrac free spool locking hubs??
Here's the link to their site. http://spyntec.com/00-13_dodge_spyntec_overview/. I actually purchased them directly from Spyntec. The Mile Marker hubs come standard with the kit. Another good thing about this kit, is that the Mile Marker hubs are usually instock units at almost any auto parts store in the country. They are top notch pieces and unlikely to ever need replacing, but are also substantially less expensive then Warn hubs or the Dynalocs.ACRucrazy wrote:And where do you buy the Spyntec & Mile Markers?
