Where is the original axle now?

And for what it's worth my front axle knows what every type of rock tastes like. I wore down the inner splines on both front axle shafts, had all bushings replaced, the housing checked out for straightness and had HD brackets for modified skid plate welded on. The housing is holding up well. I think there was a manufactering problem for sure.

I just saw you are in Ca. I'm not going to Ca to pick up an axle!

Well reviving a dead thread. Driving home this afternoon when my steering started feeling funny. Would go from firm to mushy then start to bind and not return to center. Got out looked over everything. Appeared to be all normal. Driving further home it got worse then had significant death wobble and steering would go completely dead. Nursed it the final mile to a friends house. Crawled under and found the bolt from the track bar on the axle mount gone. Luckily the steering stabilizer skid caught the bolt. So now its getting towed to the dealer. I will let you know the damage when I get to the shop.

Had that happen at 55 mph + and the truck has had a shake a 45 mph ever since. It was fortunate it didn't happen a few minutes earlier at 75 on I-10.

I am not holding my breath on that, but we shall see. I guess this just gives n-fab more time to ship my steps to me.
Should have bought my steps. $300 and you would have had them. Seems like I cant give the n-fab things away!

I wonder if just welding the tube which was leaking would have fixed this...I had some buddies with mustangs and older hot rods who had leaking tubes at the diff and drained them cleaned them real well and just smashes them with a lot of heat and beads around the whole axle (however these axles did have axle seals at the ends of the tubes not on the diff like the 9.25 but with enough care it could be done....

Full welds on the tubes and extra plates/trusses over the banjo. If this happens to anyone else you will be fixing it on your own dime. So strip it and twist the tube back . Put new seals in and it won't happen again.

a truss seems like it's not a great addition for some people and their wheeling styles but the 9.25 is so crappy and weak with those plug welds it's great for added reassurance and for the 3/4" of ground clearance you loose (if properly installed) is worth it...
