It doesn't mention the 2013 model year, so hopefully I won't have to hear anything about all the carli parts up front.

This recall will not be denied if the truck has been modified. This recall is about removing and replacing earlier and potentially defective revisions of steering linkage parts. In laymen's terms it means that it doesn't matter if the truck was original or modified so long as the linkage has not been modified(meaning the linkage itself has not been cut or welded on as an example). This recall is about a safety issue with earlier revisions of the steering linkage.

The newer linkage has a pin or key to align the ends of the linkage to prevent limitations in motion that can cause failure of the tie rod end(TRE).

From what I gather in the recall is that, all of the trucks that have a "T" style linkage with an early revision will be replaced free of charge.

I got my recall notice today in the mail for 2008-20012 models for front left tie rod fracture and failure. My truck is going in for other work monday to the dealer. I will let you guys know how I make out. This is the second recall I have had to take to the dealer. :wtf: . Even if they repair it, it will fail in the future due to oem junk.

Got mine in the mail yesterday. Gotta find time to take it in. Does this include an alignment as well?

The Jeep has a recall too that I've had for a couple months to reflash the computer. What a pain.

I'm not sure, I would think so if the parts are changed. An alignment would be needed. I'll let you know Monday evening how I make out. Nice work MyYoung84 on locker harness! I 'm interested in one in the future. Are the relays replacable if on fails. A plug style?

Check out the thread link below for some pics of inside the box. The relays are replaceable if necessary. They are glued to the inside of the box with Goop, which holds them very well but also makes them removable with a little effort. I experimented with a few different adhesives and this was the best compromise of strength and remove-ability...

Seeing as I don't have a garage… I took my truck in for its 52,000km service last weekend and they made a point to mention to me there is no outstanding recall on my truck!

No worries! My locker bypass threads have gotten crazy. Thanks for the kind words! You hang around here long enough and you'll go broke very quickly!

No alignment included is BS. Does the warranty cover premature tire wear from bad alignment?

Got my letter in the mail yesterday. It said that I can't schedule until after January 8, 2014. My front pinion seal is leaking so I will probably get it replaced as well. See how that Maxcare Lifetime warranty works with $100 deductible.

From the description, it may have been CAUSED by us having T-style steering installed before they added the alignment pin and fork where the tie rod end meets the tie rod. The problem is potential misalignment between the two, taking away any available rotation during the steering cycle. I'm in the same boat. Thought I was doing well replacing the Y-style. Oh well. New parts again.

I made it a point to make sure my tie rod ends where both aligned evenly so I'm not in a big rush to get the recall done.
