I have not yet received mine, but I'll probably fill the plug with silicone grease and leave it in place.

I'd apply a generous dose of dielectric grease and call it good.

After three years, you inquiry made me take a look at mine. It's been plugged in the whole time, and has always worked fine. It was dirty as heck tho, so I went ahead and cleaned it up with contact cleaner and capped off both ends.

Mine was the same plug.
I just used Dow 111 silicone grease to keep water out and left it plugged in.

Dow 111 is a very thick lubricant and does not harden at all ever.

Mine will never be submerged (on purpose anyway) but will get splashed.

The back of the plug is exposed to the elements so even with a tight fitting remote plug water would enter.

With the grease. Just keep pushing it into the holes in the plug until you think it's coming out of the back of it. Then push alittle more into it just to be sure.

Is this better than using di-electric grease? Is this stuff like hitch ball grease?

The Dow Corning 111is o-ring lube. Use this stuff by the tub at work.

Yes Dow #111 is quite a bit thicker and has a much higher melting point than Dow #4 dielectric grease. It also can't be splashed or sprayed off... Well other than with a steam cleaner that is. :excited:

Yea, and you really have to scrub your hands good too. To get the stuff off. Otherwise your hands are slick for awhile.

I just put my bid in. The user is out until Sept. 3rd, but we'll see. Figured I should do something to the Wagon!
