Anyone have the Bilstein shock package from 8 lug?

Thoughts about the package offered at 8 lug for a budget OEM 140k mile replacement?

That doesn't seem like a bad deal to me.

Put them on more than a year ago and am happy. Slight improvement over stock and George is always great to deal with........

Thanks, yea the stockers are shot and I am looking at all my options. Unsure if I want to spend 2800 on a full kit or 300 or so on something like this which would leave plenty of money left over for other items such as the spendy ball joints and maybe airbags and some new tires.

IMO, it was more than a slight improvement. The 5100 is a much better shock than stock - I saw a change in roll control (sloshing) when off road.

I just purchased some Carli parts from 8 lug and George was great to deal with. You could also get the bilstien 7100 Carli tuned shock package for $1330. I know that's over a grand more, but just wanted to make sure you knew that you don't have to buy the whole kit. In fact, you can't even use the end links and rear leaf packs on the Power Wagon so it's better to piece together your own kit.

The 5100's are a good replacement for the stock Bilstein's. The shock has the exact same hardware with slightly stiffer valving than the OEM shock.

I bought the 5100's from 8lug a couple years ago as well. OEM's were about toast. Definite improvement in ride quality and they look nicer than the yellow/blue OEM'S IMO. :D
2005 Black Pow Wagon mods: DT Profab Steering Brace, Gibson superflow catback single exhaust system, Locker Bypass, Moog ball joints (see how long they last), New OEM track bar bushings, T-steering upgrade w/ Bilstein 5100 steering damper, Power everything, Heated leather seats, (keeps the better half happy), Rear window defrost, Bilstein 5100 shocks, 35x12.5x17 Toyo AT2 Extremes, Customized H2 alloy wheels, Original rock rails with family friendly steps welded on, Tri fold tonneau, Hi-lift extreme jack, Tool box along with all the essential PW gear. New winch cable, Winch TPS bypass, Cardan joint grease zerk discovery. New front grille assembly. Magnesium Chloride under coating.

If you ever happen to see me running somewhere, you should start running too. :)

So... how do you tell if the shocks are bad and actually need replacing?

Compress one corner of the truck with your body weight if it moves more than down, up, down to original position...they are bad...

Also look for any oil leakage on the shocks. When the seals start to go bad. You will see some light oil around where the shaft goes into the shock body.
