Really interested to see how the link/coil rear will articulate compared to the leaf spring PW's. And how well the front will flex with the radius arms.

And to see if axle hop has been reduced/eliminated.

If the links don't eliminate the axle hop then there is a major design flaw. That 6.4 Hemi should be a nice addition as well. The dual alternator option is nice too.

Rumore 3500 rear suspension.
Wheel hop cured
Substitute Carli bags and now there is gobs of travel possible
Long shackles and trave is enhanced.
Simple proven and space efficient... I like it!

Here's a pic I found on the website below for the new 5 link. Looks like they tucked everything up above the bottom of the axle.

Cool looking suspension, but how will it handle towing/hauling heavy loads? I have no complaints with my leaf spring rear suspension. I also have no complaints with the power in the 5.7. My only complaint is I want a manual transmission.

What I don't like about this version is the way the shocks go up inside the frame preventing virtually any real upgrade in shocks. Otherwise I like it for the most part.

Maybe it's just something in the perspective in the pics but, those coils look awfully close together (not much width between the two sides) on the rear suspension. Seems like that would not be near as stable as a setup where the coils were considerably wider spaced. My eyes may just be deceiving me though. Glad they are leaving leaves on the 3500s though, I am not sold on the coils for HEAVY hauling and towing. For the 1880lb payload and 10klb towing rated for our trucks they should do fine though! I bet the flex will be great! Only downside is gonna be that lift kits are gonna cost a fortune for the 2014s!!! :cash:

The Moab PW coils sit about where the leaf spring would be. Judging from the picture. Think this would give you an idea about what it would look like in production.

I just can't understand why the Power Wagon especially, or any 4x4 in this day & age, still has low pinion axles ?

RustyPW, thanks for the pic, that gives a bit better perspective, the coil spacing looks more reasonable in that pic. I had figured it must be my eyes tricking me!

TwinStick- I could be wrong but, my front axle looks to be high pinion? (2012 Power Wagon) I would ideally want a high pinion front end (which mine looks to be? If it is a low pinion, it is an odd looking one!)) and a low pinion rearend. The reason why I state that preference is that in forward gears (which my truck spends 99% of its time in) a high pinion front end and low pinion rearend are in their strongest arrangement. If you have a high pinion rearend on a truck that spends 99% of its time in a forward gear, that means it spends 99% of its time on the coast side (weak side) of the rear ring and pinion. I am all about a high pinion front since it puts the front ring and pinion on the drive side most of the time but, for the rearend, the max strength is low pinion. (once again to have most of the time spent on the drive side)

I saw that in a few other pictures. The 5 link should prevent axle hop. Over on DTX George at 8lug speculated that with all the link brackets above the centerline of the axle, there may be enough leverage on the axle to create a little hop. It is an interesting setup.

Yeah, i didn't miss it. :D The amount of axle/wheel hop I personally have experienced with my truck will NOT be cured by a shock. I thought i was gonna break my driveshaft or u-joints, it was VIOLENT !!! I just cant see a shock curing that. But what do i know ?

A shock on top of our rear suspension won't be very helpful, but a shock on top of a 5 link is more of an insurance policy than a necessity.

I don't want something that dampens it. I want something that eliminates it. Our axles move up & down, NOT forward & backwards. I think a high clearance traction bar would be better, but, what do i know ??? I know shocks have been used with success, but i believe they were high end King shocks. That don't even resemble anything high end.

I think quite often what you will find is axle wrap, the oscillating motion of the axle around it's axis due to the leverage the axle has on the leaf springs because of the block. Picture the block MUCH taller and you will see the potential for the axle twisting the leaves. The springs flex and release, throwing the axle around violently with enough throttle and torque applied. This will appear as hop.

I apologize if I sound like I am trying to school you. Not my intent. Just explaining what I was trying to say. :patriot:

Well that is Mike always trying to school folks ..... :P :)

I will say, since switching to my King shocks, my axle doesn't seem to even want to wrap. Not sure if they fixed the problem or just dampened it so I can't tell, but I am happy with them and the way they work.
