I know this topic has been brought up many times before, but it never gets very far.
So I now have 2 busted driver side manifold bolts that need to be fixed and I think 1 passenger side bolt. If I'm going to be tearing things apart, I might as well get some headers on while I'm in there. I'm planning to go with shorties, as I'm more concerned with low end, than high end power.
I know it was mentioned previously about Flow Tech headers from Summit Racing. Did anyone ever install these on their PW?
Can anyone running headers in their PW, post;
1)What you are running?
2)How was the install? Bolt up? Modification necessary?
3)How's the performance?
4)How's the sound?
5)Do you like them?
6)Would you do it again, or keep the stock manifolds?
Also any input from anyone would be much appreciated.
Headers again.

I know I've seen signatures with headers listed in them. Somebody's got to have something to say on the subject.

Re: Headers again.
As a replacement, shorties will be better than the OEM manifolds and at a much lower price. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/big-9 ... etrain/4wdSilverWagon05 wrote: I'm planning to go with shorties, as I'm more concerned with low end, than high end power.

I eventually plan on getting the complete TTI long tube exaust system when I get some spare change, about $2300 worth of change

I can't remember his name, but the owner/operater truck driver from WA with the nice KW put some TTI long tubes on his PW, also somebody over at DT used some short tubes for an OEM replacement.
Here is a good article for info ...

Thanks for the link. I guess I was backwards on the short vs long improvements on the low vs high rpm range.cruz wrote:As a replacement, shorties will be better than the OEM manifolds and at a much lower price. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/big-9 ... etrain/4wdSilverWagon05 wrote: I'm planning to go with shorties, as I'm more concerned with low end, than high end power.

Re: Headers again.
That's my next mod on the PW. Getting TTI headers and the cats and y pipe. Going to go throught a 18" Magaflow muffler. From there, the tail pipe has to be custom bent for the way I want it to exit. The problem I have is with the air bags. So I'm thinking of putting it through the side panel in front of the rear tire, above the rock rail. This will keep it out of harms way.
I'm going to be doing this, ONCE my credit card quits smoking again.

Thanks for the compliment cruz

As for my headers they are tti lts.
I had them put on at an exhaust shop that told me these were the easiest headers they had installed, about an hour and a half to remove and replace another hour to tie collectors to exhaust.
Only mod was a quarter of an inch removed from rt motor mt tower so that the forward primary tube could clear when motor torqued. There was probably an 1/8 of an inch clearance with no mod but I have ocd so wanted a tad more room. Also the shop had heard nothing but good about tti and were impressed with the quality.
Performance is far better than stock but I did several mods at once so they complimented the headers, as well my next mods will be cam and springs so I feel the lts are a great building block for what I want to do.
The headers I feel quieted my truck down yet gave it a deeper tone, the one noticeable difference is you can now hear header tick, which is the exhaust pulse hitting the primary tubes, not a bad thing in my opinion.
I personally would buy the tti all over again if these wear out, customer service was great no issues with build quality and mine are almost 4 years old. I worked with Mike at tti if you wanted to contact them.

Been running JBA short for a while.
They are nice an clean and maybe a bit of performance upgrade.
The USPS interferes with the frame or the motor mount . simple caveman style mod to get clearance.
