Hit 95K miles and started to have the transmission acting up. Then starting limping, bit the bullet with around 97k miles. Annoying since the truck has never been beat and fluid was never over 172 deg even while towing.
New transmission with billet/upgrades along with deep pan and RevMax bypass. Lifetime warranty.
5.13 gears, AAM rears, Richmond fronts
New U-Joints, ball joints, and unit bearings, did Duralast Gold, due to go P&L warranty. (None of these were bad other than the right hub, but the u-joints and balljoints were showing wear and the seals were worn out, so replaced them since it was virtually no additional labor.)
Synthetic all the way around, plus T'case fluid change.
Next just coolant replacement and probably plugs, and hopefully should be good to 200k miles other than just fluid and tires.
Expensive few weeks, but still cheaper than a car payment.

Good as new
You should be good for a few years
I'm the same way...would rather keep fixing it vs making truck payments

Re: Some Updates on the 2016 PW
I had my Avalanche 2500 for 11 years and 200k miles. (And technically still own my 2nd gen Ram although haven't seen it for a few years.) I probably would have kept the Av (8.1L/4.10s/airbags at all four corners, 33"s) but the electronic T-case was a PITA. I had a billet oil pump in the rebuilt case but it was every year replacing the position ring on the shifter, and then the wire harness failed. Sucks being in a blizzard and 4wd not available. The PW was the right combination of manual T'case and cable shift auto. (The linkage on the 2nd gen sucks when you bend the firewall.) The PW is the first vehicle I have ever got past 50k miles with the original T'case. (My second gen blew the 231HD in about 30k miles, replaced it with a 241J/OR, my Ranger blew up around 50k miles) However this is the first vehicle I have ever paid for a transmission in. (Yes, the second gen's 46RE was replaced under warranty and then I put huge coolers and a gauge on it, the Ranger had slave cylinder failed so it got a clutch which was about as much as a transmission back in the day)

Re: Some Updates on the 2016 PW
I needed to replace the transfer case in my Avalanche when it got a hole and and all the fluid leaked out, and about 4 solenoids, including the under warranty ones.

Flopped the truck on it's side last October at 175k and the transmission started slipping due to loss of fluid
Doing the 8HP75 swap in it now

I have the 8HP75 in my diesel Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. It's a good tranny.gtomike60 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 4:39 pmPut a reman 66RFE at 125k in 2018ramv wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 1:52 pmI had my Avalanche 2500 for 11 years and 200k miles. Re: Some Updates on the 2016 PW
That's what mine did too, but I was fortunate and found it was leaking right and JB welded it. I then got a rebuilt one with the billet oil pump to stop the pump from wearing out the case. Put close to 150k miles on the rebuilt with no issues.
