Post by w2dodge » Sun Jul 19, 2020 10:39 pm

Any one tackle a faulty sending unit?...Fuel gauge in the cluster works fine when tested...(hold down mileage reset..while turning on an off 3 times with ignition key)..I'm hoping I dont have to drop the gas tank...

if its about the same procedure as a dakota then lifting the bed may be far easier. i did a dokata myself by lifting bed about 8in off the frame rails. was fairly easy job actually.

Yup. My usual shop unbolts the bed and slides it over a bit to get to the pump.
Other shops will drop the fuel tank out of the truck to replace the truck.
Shitty shops will wreck the fuel tank in the process.

yep I figured that....pump works ..and i have less than a half tank.. most likely doing this alone...just might waste the gas idling every day ...and drop the tank

Slide the bed back... 6 bolts... need at least 3 strong dudes or chicks... pump is right behind the cab... took me about 1.5hrs to do fairly easy
