2006 Power Wagon ball joint bore

Pressed out upper and lower balljoints on driver and passenger side today. Found this on both uppers. Think I can get away with it as long as new joints fit tight? Not sure why previous owner would do this, it almost looks intentional.

Those large gash marks look strange, perhaps something was wedged in there to get the ball joints out. The small vertical lines indicate knurled ball joints were previously used so you will need to use them again, smooth sided ball joints won't hold.

The install should be fine, if the ball joints aren't real tight you can slightly marr the inside of the sleeve with a small chisel and reinstall them. Good Luck!

I think you're right. Whoever replaced them previously must've ran into some serious trouble... Or just shouldn't of been allowed near the truck lol.

As long as my new ball joints fit tight, I'll probably just send It. I'm in no position to be replacing a front axle housing right now.

When I did my ball joints. I couldn't remove the unit bearings on either side. I had to use a 6" fiber cut off wheel to cut the ball joint studs to remove the knuckles. Now I have Dynatrac freespin hubs, and RCV axles in the front.
