Power wagon recovery kits

Post by Lazarus » Tue Feb 05, 2019 10:50 pm

I’m putting together a new recovery kit for my adventures and am wondering what stuff everyone is using. What are your necessities to a good recovery kit? Much easier for me to ask about what has proven itself on the trail rather than read endless online reviews about everything I want to add. Some of my stuff is getting worn, and I think it’s time to upgrade.

A hitch link from factor 55 or a similar product in steel to use your tow hitch as a solid recovery point. Perfect for a kinetic recovery strap etc.

Good quality shackles. I prefer vanbeest but Crosby and gunnebo are also good.

Snatch strap. Bubbarope is pretty legit, the polymer coating makes them last a lot longer

A soft shackle or two

Shovel

Tree strap. I went bubbarope this time and have done Masterpull in the past

Extra winch remote

Good gloves!!! Cestus deep 3 cut 5 is what I put in all my 4x4’s

Winchline damper of some sort

Some aervoe steel rope spray lube if you’re keeping the wire rope

A set of rubber wheel chocks. Uline has them pretty cheap.

Probably a lot more but that’s off the top of my head
Central Texas and Houston area

Carli 3” coils deaver leafs 3” kings with 4 tube bypass rear and fr/rr hydro bumps

I need to step up my recovery gear game soon. All I’m carrying extra now is a tow strap.

Snatch blocks for sure, I carry minimum 3 so I can do reverse winching.

On top of that, I've got various chains, straps, tree saver, shackles all over, hitch recovery setup with hook and shakle, HiLift, HiLift ORK, shovel, axe, chainsaw, etc...
