2006 Power Wagon Overlanding Built
2006 Power Wagon Overlanding Built
Hello guys
I bought my 2006 Power Wagon Reg Cab about 2 years ago. It took me about half a year to get it here in Switzerland and register it legally.
Afterwards it was over half a year at a friend that builts overlanding vehicles for living. I got my HZJ75 LAnd cruiser from him and so I decided that he shall make my next cabin.
I got it Oktober 2018 and due to family problems I could not continue on it. But my goal is to do the complete interior and other things till 2020. The interior will be done with flight cases to keep all light.
At the moment the car weights with this cabin 3.3tons. On the sides I will install LPG or 100liter of gasoline tanks on each side behind the front door. (you can see the free space) I want to have about 1000km of range as I had with my Land cruiser.
Just thought to share this surely not usual project with you guys... there is still do go, also on the car itself like a military wrap, snorkel, solar cells and much more.
It will have a double bed, kitchen with 2 gas stoves, 300Ah LiFePo4 for the power, 230V inverter, 100-150lilter of water with ceramic filtration system, hot water boiler etc. Pretty much what I had in the LC I used to travel from Canada to Argentina.
Let me know if you have any questions or inputs!

Epic build! That much closed cell foam is going to make a nice and toasty cabin when its cold out! Will you also have supplemental heating? can't wait to see more of the build progression!

this doesnt belong on this site, your not welcome here....said no one.
We clearly know you have photos galore or are willing to take them. Show Us More!
not too many guys here who remove the bed for a living quarter, and go full aussie style on us. Its a brilliant truck, and your on your way to full overland glory.
cant wait to see the finished interior.
lets talk about GAS! range is everything here in my opinion, as you stated your 1k KM goal. Excited to see someone who is planning on executing this with semi style gas tanks, as i assume thats they format your speaking of.

Re: 2006 Power Wagon Overlanding Built
Thanks guys! I will post pics as soon as I progress. The past few and the next weeks I will finish my order list of things I need. Many things that worked good on the last logn trip I will take over from the Land cruiser I had, but still I like to research stuff before I buy.
Yeah, it's 50mm of glas-foam-glas sandwich plate. Most european made overlanding cabins are made out of this material. Very good isolation and light.
Exactly, I have attachement points on the cabin subframe (steel) so I can hang semi style tanks on the sides. This was my idea. If I go with propane it will be round steel tanks, if it's gasoline I will go with custom made plastic PE tanks. They are little bit lighter than aluminum and very strong. There are a few companies in Germany that specialized on that for water but also for diesel and gasoline.
In Switzerland it's funny, we have probably the most strict rules for cars, you are not even allowed to change to aftermarket rims without going through huge paperwork (or $$$$). Little bit rust on a car won't let you pass the every 2 year inspetion etc. BUT on gas tanks there are no laws!? I can install whateverI want and they won't say anything.
I got 120liters on the original tank (if I am right) so for 1000km I will need about 250-300liter if I consider some offroading. So I need 65-90liter per side. This should be possible from the space I have left. I just feel a little bit nervous as gasoline is dangerous compared to the diesel I had on the Land cruiser. Just need to make sure those tanks are well made. Propane (LPG) is readily available in most countries. Island, Morocco don't have LPG, so I didn't decide yet if I want to go the LPG route, but at 6.4$/gallon for gasoline here it's definately to consider! Propane costs about 2-3x less!

Sub'd. Nice work. Interested to follow along!!
Re: 2006 Power Wagon Overlanding Built
Here a slow progress. Built now the first flight case seat with 80liter water tank inside and almost finished with the other side.
Also installed the aluminess bumper from member Colibri (thnx again!). I hope to make more progress this winter as last winter I had no time due to family problems.
I measured the weight of the wheels and had to re-order the placement of many things like fridge, water tanks etc. as I realized that I had too much weight on the front wheels and not enough on the rear wheels. I want to have a nice weight distribution and also as low as possible to improve offroad capabilities.
Also thinking to install LPG tanks as it's quite common here in Europe and the gas prices are killing me here. Then it would run cheaper as a Diesel with all the advantages of the weight.
