Has anyone looked into building out our stockers into a true bead-lock setup?

I've seen a few guys have trail ready wheels have real rings tgi welded on looked good (on regular 2500 Laramie wheels) I'm sure it could be done with p.wagon wheelsMr.Smith wrote:Has anyone looked into building out our stockers into a true bead-lock setup?

Ok I'm getting mixed reviews on the stock wheels, some say the backspacing will cause a 35x12.50 to run with an all stock suspension. I think different gens get different results, mine is a 2015. I like the stock wheels just fine, so if they will work I'll keep them. What's the verdict?

Stock OEMs are better than just about every other OEM, save for maybe original H1 (not the GM Brodozer H2/H3 wheels) wheels. Hutchinson offers true DOT approved Beadlocks, and they're not terribly expensive. I'll migrate to these one day after all my other dream list items are finished.Deola2015 wrote:Ok I'm getting mixed reviews on the stock wheels, some say the backspacing will cause a 35x12.50 to run with an all stock suspension. I agree, but will they rub if I make the jump to 35x12.50s on stock suspension?

Re: Glad to be here, now let's make this truck a beast.
They will rub the control arms and the swaybar probably but not a whole bunch. The higher number back space will keep you away from the fenders on full flex and put you to rub a bit more on the hard parts that can take the wear.

He has a 2015, no control arms, You can fit 35x12.5 tires on stock wheels with slight rub on the radius arms at full turn (depending on tire, some may not even touch). Clears everything else.

Arms lol we are talking about 37's I thought? If just 35's it will be fine I would jump right to a 37" bfg or Mickey Thompson mtz tho... Looks so right with 37's on stock everything. But the swaybar will rub alittle also. Nothing to worry about or that black paint can't fix

Re: Glad to be here, now let's make this truck a beast.
I should also mention that there was a pretty good amount of front inner fender trimming to accommodate the ADD bumper. I'm out on the farm now, and can snap a pic when I get back to pw if there isn't too much cow poo in there.
Re: Glad to be here, now let's make this truck a beast.
Here's the trimmed fenders, and a better side shot so you guys can see how far the bumper noses out in front. It's not as bad as that other pic made it look.

I guess it's the photos, but it sure does look like it sticks down way low.

Re: Glad to be here, now let's make this truck a beast.
No rub with factory wheels and 35's... Depending on what brand of tire you go with a 37" will rub the rear fender liner and pinch seam... These will need to be trimmed a pretty good bit to make a true 37" tire fit with no lift...Deola2015 wrote:Ok I'm getting mixed reviews on the stock wheels, some say the backspacing will cause a 35x12.50 to run with an all stock suspension. Is there a local Fab shop near you? Might be worth the money to cut and fab the lower part of that bumper up to match the height of the fairlead from the winch, might buy you an extra 6" of approach angle. From the pictures it looks like a 3 hour job of Fab work to make that thing have one more clearance. Maybe even cut that lower bar off too while you have the plasma out.. Keep up the good work;)

^^^^ yep^^^ was going to suggest it, but felt bad suggesting hack off a big piece of your new bumper on your new truck, but...that bar has got to go
