Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
Diesel stuff only available still^^
she'll go great tho I would do the swaybar if your not planning on having a high centre of gravity like a camper or something in the back it will just let the front end dance - then just stash your swaybar module in the airbox or something. You won't miss the flex 90% of the time offroad it still hugs the terrain like a mofo but it is MUCH softer then factory and even Carlis swaybar I believe....

Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
Thanks for the tips. I read through the instructions tonight so I had a better idea what I'm doing. They recommended test fitting the new pitman arm nut to verify correct threads. When I removed the OEM nut I discovered it was maybe MAYBE 10lbft tight. I had a 1/2' breaker bar but I literally spun it with my hand. Had it not been for the lock washer the OEM pitman arm nut would have simply fallen off. I wanted to feel what 185lbft felt like on that nut so I torqued it bsck down...yeah, it took some effort. I'm not going to install the brace until this weekend so I should have a chance to drive the truck and feel if the tightened nut had any effect.adeluca73 wrote:Make sure you wait to snug up the bearing race last, and DO NOT completely remove the sway bar, I thought it give more room to work, there's a reason why Danny didn't say to remove it....don't askReloaderguy wrote:Discount tire matched Tread Depots pricing for a 5th Toyo RT and and KMC XD wheel. I used a 46mm to remove the OE an 1 3/4" to put on the replacement. I also put the sector shaft nut on after I had the brace mounted. The job was simple with the crows foot.

What does the steering brace do? What are you trying to eliminate by installing the brace?

Other than the obvious implied by the name, it eliminates lateral loads imparted to the steering gear box attached to the sidewall of the wheel well from side-to-side jarring impacts2011TXPowerWagon wrote:What does the steering brace do? What are you trying to eliminate by installing the brace?

In laymen's; your steering wheel won't go spinning the opposite direction when wheeling because you bounced against a rock, like it has a tendency to do.adeluca73 wrote:Other than the obvious implied by the name, it eliminates lateral loads imparted to the steering gear box attached to the sidewall of the wheel well from side-to-side jarring impacts2011TXPowerWagon wrote:What does the steering brace do? No. The brace supports the end of the sector shaft. The steering wheel will still go spinning but it won't wear out the steering box when it does it.MikeKey wrote:In laymen's; your steering wheel won't go spinning the opposite direction when wheeling because you bounced against a rock, like it has a tendency to do.adeluca73 wrote:Other than the obvious implied by the name, it eliminates lateral loads imparted to the steering gear box attached to the sidewall of the wheel well from side-to-side jarring impacts2011TXPowerWagon wrote:What does the steering brace do? How are you liking the r/t's? I'm leaning 35/37 in those or the At2's, or the new BFG KO2 (killer deal at Sears on the 35's right now), or the Nitto's, or the Hankooks that Neal ran on his diesel, or the new red label Grabbers--decisions. I think I've softened on the SSR's, too damn expensive .

I wish I had bought 37/13.5 but other than that, yeah, the RT is pretty great. I mean, aside from the wheel tech's obvious cranial rectal disorder.adeluca73 wrote:How are you liking the r/t's? My short list is Toyo and Cooper, I can't say anything on your list really lights me on fire.

Hmm, Well the first two were either your exact tire or the AT Toyo's. Replaced 37" BFG KO1's w/ the 37" Cooper STMaxx on my F250 & wasn't impressed...loud as F, & squirrelly as hell.Reloaderguy wrote:I wish I had bought 37/13.5 but other than that, yeah, the RT is pretty great. Re: Reloaderguy's Mod Thread
The RT feels very planted and handles wet road and standing water very well. Slush and snow, although brief, was perfect. Mud performance will probably not be as good as an MT but still better than a traditional AT. The RT is quieter than the stock Duratrac.
I've heard the STMaxx are squishy with heavier trucks. That was a factor in my decision to buy the RT's. If I bought Coopers tomorrow it would probably be STT Pro's in 37/13.5. Tough call though because Toyo is really impressing me.

I've been hauling 10-12k lbs worth of broken up concrete plus dump trailer for the last week twice a day. My stmaxx are not being squishy. The rears are at 40lbs still. And hauling a mini excavator down highway has been no problem. So far they are performing all round better than my old toyo at2 extremes ever did.

Tire shops hate it when you roll their shoddy work through the front door.
