I hate those little bastards! Every year when the snow melts at my cabin but before there is much to eat those S.O.B.'s come out of the woods and chew the hell out of the siding on my cabin, garage, and shed.

Tactical flashlight mounted on my .22 does the job though.

Haha yea. I have a 223 in the truck for Yotes and foxes. We have sheep and chickens and turkeys on the farm and they are a problem. So always have the rifle.

Trucks all fixed up. Everything's working. Sway bar is currently removed. Doesn't seem to bother me driving wise. Only the odd fast steering input leans it but no loss of control. The carli springs seem to stiffen up quick so the body roll isn't that bad.

So had a few issues. Got tie rod recall done. Prior everything was tight and was tracking perfectly. Well I got the truck back after they took 4 hrs. When I put in control arms in I had to make a bolt for the alignment cam bolts as I cut the old ones off. Well I had two new ones to install. But I had no time. Night before I removed the skid plate off the axle to make it Easier. Well next morning I went to dealership for recall and asked if they could change the caster bolts to the new ones as they had to loosen them regardless. They charged me 160 bucks to change two bolts. 1.2 hrs. U kidding me? I could do it In the driveway in 20 min. And here is the kicker. After 4 hrs waiting I was late for work so took off. Well truck was acting funny. Clunking again. Thought oh well I'll just torque everything up later. Well sat morning 6 am I went outside to work a bit on the truck. Got out new fuel filter. Put it on the front tire. Decided to go under and torque up the bolts. And found out that the tech put the cam bolts in backwards. Which shouldn't have been too much of a deal except that he put the cam plate which sits opposite on the nut backwards. So instead of the two lobes working together they were like 40° to each other. So no matter how he tried to align it was always fighting itself. So the truck ended up worse than when I originally brought it in. I was hopin mad. I started phoning the dealer every 15 min right to 8 till someone answered. Well I didn't know who answered at first. Told him the crap and he knew I was mad. Well he said he had to call in a tech cause it was sat. He did. But through this I was so mad I just jumped in and took off. Until I heard a nasty crunch. As I ran over my fuel filter. Well after I got there and they got it fixed up I found out that I originally was talking to the owner of the dealership. So yes they took care of it but the $160 for bolt installation and then having to make extra trip from hour away I just realized again how i truly only trust myself to work on this truck. Or any of my vehicles.

Oh. And I think my steering box is toast. Gonna install the one from the pw in this week. Hopefully that will fix the clunk. That's back again,

It's been mentioned so many times that at these dealers their "techs" are just not the same as a good, properly trained mechanic. I hate to say it but every time I have to take my truck into the dealer I get a little nervous and almost always do a full inspection afterwards just in case they messed something up.

Sure sucks with all of the headache you needed to go through, and here's hoping this is just about the end of your issues!

Wow man I am ashamed to be part of the service industry when you tell me things like this. The dealer should not have charged you besides parts for the cam bolts if they had to release them anyways. I wouldn't really be taking that did u pay cash or visa? Id be phoning visa and canceling that payment until the dealer could justify being paid twice for the cam bolt work....or possibly a phone call to Chrysler Canada to have a discussion with them and mention how they charged you an additional 1.2hrs on a warranty alignment.... Fuck id be fuming!!!

Clunk in the steering wheel and in the brake pedal. Mostly slow speed but noticed on highway. Worse when towing my skid steer.
2wag I was and am still pissed at it. At the time I was in a hurry and if said tech had done everything properly i didn't care and just wanted to get out of there as I sat from 8am to noon. But bolts that were not rusted in and even skid plate removed to facilitate removal of the bolts. Should have only taken 10 min for him to do both beimg they were chest height on a lift and he wasn't doing it on the ground on his back.

Hodge I checked torque on every bolt. 30" bar, pull or push till u poop. Nothing is lose. Was playing with the steering box and there is a lot of steering movement now before the pitman moves. Big dead spot. I compared it to the parts pw box and it's defiantly got play. Just another victim of the DW. I have a steering box brace but cannot find the bolt extension that goes onto the sector shaft. It's a psc brace. And they haven't responded to the couple of emails I sent them about that one part. I was and still am debating sending the pw steer box away to psc for a full hydro assist build. Think it was $850. But I need airbags first.

I'll check this weekend when I go home. I may have one kicking around for the brace. If not contact hrt or someone they may be able to help better then psc directly. While you are in there take your steering shaft out and grease the piss out of the splines. It will take care of the mystery clunk. I just disconnected it from the ps box, slid the boot up and greased it a ton. Then hose clamp/zip tie the boot back. I chased a mystery clunk forever. Turns out the steering intermediate shaft on these is notorious for that, no need to replace it, just some heavy duty thick grease. If you have the one from the parts truck id take that one get it all greased and ready then just swap them out as needed. Its a little bit of a PITA but id bet money thats where the clunk is coming from.

Ha I was chasin that ghost too. I had daughter turn the wheel while I held the lowest u joint on that shaft. It has a tiny play but I realized then that the shaft was moving but the pitman wasn't. I went to the parts truck and moved the shaft just a tiny amount and the pitman moved. Wheels up its moving without the steering wheel moving. So gonna replace and if that don't work.... Keep on

Hahahaha that's why the diesel is uber nice, it masks the funky noises well. NTS, tho the steering box may be shot that stupid steering shaft is the source for all types of annoying "front end" clunking. Id do both and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the clunk free front end. Its always something stupid

Sitting dead in the rain right now. Haven't done anything on the truck except torquing up the cam bolts which were surprisingly loose. Hodge let me know if u can find that sector shaft extension. That would be sweet. Was hoping to install the brace with the new steering box.

What numbers are we looking for. It looks identical to my 08. Has an 1 13/16 nut on it. The threads look to be 1 3/16. I'd also like to say maybe not huge but larger then normal lol. Do those numbers help?
