Basic recovery, Emergency Medical - Northern AZ. - 28 and 29 Sept 13
The 28th will be based on last years event:
http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/t ... -06-Oct-12
For the recovery stuff, we'll have two of us discussing equipment. The recovery portion will be more about selecting gear and planning, and we will "recover" Cactus Red from a stuck as a demo.
The medical portion is going to be longer - I have the same guys willing to participate for that. They are all super qualified - a 16 year veteran Green Beret Combat Medic, a Flagstaff area Fireman/EMT, and a Level 1 Trauma center/ER critical care nurse. Between them, they can answer pretty much anything that you can think of on emergency care. As with last year, this is not a replacement for proper training, but it should do a great job getting you motivated to become WFA or WFR certified. We'd welcome more experienced help in this area too!
Meeting point: Main Camp site below
Recovery stuff will start at 9:30 AM, Medical at 11:00 to 11:30, with a break for lunch, and cont. until ???
The 29th will be an opportunity to do some historical exploration in the area.

This requires a walk of approx 3 to 4 miles round trip. The best views require a more strenuous route along the edge of the rim.
Main Camp Location: FR 792 off FR 231 (Woody Mountain Road), somewhere near: 34.99367,-111.824883
This is approx 22 miles south of Flagstaff on good roads. It can also be accessed from I-17 on FR 237 in Kachina Village to Hwy 89A, then taking FR 535 west to FR 231
