CB mounting spots???
CB mounting spots???
I've got a nice Cobra CB that I am wanting to mount in my truck (big classic style one) and I am looking for mounting Ideas. I am thinking about building a mount out of some sheetmetal that would branch the space between the lower portion of my dash and the hole in the center console where the stick would go if my truck had a manual transmission, and putting the CB and a bank of switches there. Anybody done something like this? Anybody got any other mounting spots they like? Pics would be appreciated! Thanks!!!

Here is my set-up. I have the same thing you have I think. I used two angle brackets and mounted to the floor.

Re: CB mounting spots???
Thanks for the replies y'all! Both mounts look good!
verdesardog, your is in the exact spot I was thinking of! What's a 2meter, HAM?
pdavey, that's another good mounting spot! Question for you- how did you mount the brackets to the floor, self tappers though the tranny tunnel?
Another spot I am thinking of is maybe in the headliner? Since mine is an ST rather than an SLT, I have a big blank bulge in the headliner just above my rearview mirror (where the map lights, sliding rear window switch, etc are in an SLT) looks like I could cut slot out of the bugle and mount the CB in there, anybody done that? If anybody has, please let me know how you secured it there!!! I'm thinking maybe metal tabs and body panel adhesive to the metal inner skin of the roof? (I'm afraid my interior might stink for weeks due to the adhesive though?

Yep 2 meter is amature but also public service. The radio I have in my truck has a 75 watt transmitter and has been opened for the higher public service frequiencies IE: police, forest service, fire depts. I use it for Search and Rescue.
