dual battery installation suggestions?

Post by bruinjay » Thu Oct 03, 2019 10:44 pm

Can anyone who’s done this tell me where you mother the second battery, with what kit, and perhaps provide some pics or diagram? I would like to run the second battery in my new PW similar to how I had in my 4Runner for fridge/freezer.

Can’t imaging life without a truck fridge.

Appreciate your help!

Mine is mounted inside my Four Wheel Camper. But that doesn't help you much. 😁

Personally, if all you're running is a fridge, I would not worry about a second battery. There really isn't anywhere to put it unless you go underneath somewhere with a AGM.

Carry a good jump pack and set the disconnect voltage level high on the fridge (assuming you have a unit that you can do that).

Under, between the frame rails, or in the bed in a dedicated box are the options I remember seeing.

There is a very expensive high capacity lithium replacement for the main battery that gets mixed reviews. But it’s like $900.

Not sure on your generation, but on the third gen you could get the diesel battery box for the opposite side of the engine bay of your truck and bolt it in in place of the hemi air box. An intake system like the vararam solved the lack of air box issues nicely
