Re: Alpine Loop/Engineer Pass Colorado???

If you trust the flex and stability of a long wheel base, even tight down hill switchbacks are easy. Start high and wide, hit the inside corner, and have someone take pics of the flex - you won't feel it, but they will see it... Sent via Carrier Pigeon That's something I am learning. Coming from ye...

Re: Alpine Loop/Engineer Pass Colorado???

Cinnamon Pass, Engineer Pass, Stony Pass are all very easy in a PW. The only switchback I had to two point was going down Cinnamon from Animas Fork's to Lake City. If you know your truck like I do mine, you won't even need 4Hi... In dry weather anyway! Sent via Carrier Pigeon I am new to the big be...

Re: Alpine Loop/Engineer Pass Colorado???

Thanks for all the info. My buddy and I have business in Denver in September. We want to drive it and do the Alpine Loop and some other trials while we are out there. We will be taking my Wagon, his 3rd Gen 2500 Hemi and possibly have a wayward TJ vintage Wrangler tagging along. We have just started...

Re: Anybody ditched their smartbar and hardwired their locke

i am on the list for one of myoung's locker bypass kits. Once that is a reality I am either going to go with the EVO mod for the smartbar or talk to Carli about yanking it in favor of a torsion sway bar. The Carli setup reminds me of the Currie Anti-Rock for Jeeps which was a nice setup.

That shit is NOT funny to me at all, sorry. I wonder if he would have manned up if the poor bastard had a heart attack & died or crashed his vehicle & died or worse yet hit someone else ? My rule: There are 3 things you don't fuck with: a mans family & his food & his vehicle. I was not advocating i...

Re: Vehicle Pranks

There was a prank war going on at a shop where I had permission to work on my vehicle now and again and I got to witness an epic duel. It started with a small amount of gun powder in the end of someone's cigarettes. Go outside to light up...poof. The retaliation after several exploding cigarettes wa...

Re: Thuren front bumper

That's what i was considering, removing the metal under the fog lights to streamline it a little. That is some mount they are in. I need to spend a day with the bumper off the truck to see what is possible. I would really like to take some material off at the ends for better approach angle then ref...

Re: Thuren front bumper

Yep, powdercoating is a joke when you live in a northern state that uses salt in the winter time. I don't care who does the powdercoating. It's all going to fail. That's why I have my bumpers/grill/rockers/rock rails coated with Line-X. Winter is tough on vehicles! No doubt. Just did my sliders in ...

Re: What did ya get for Christmas?

Permission to order White Knuckle sliders. My birthday is in December too so this was my one gift for the year. It was a huge one even for that. I'll be killing the honey do list and banking brownie points with Mrs. G for months to come. They are curing up now. Should be able to get them installed t...

Re: Factor 55-

Well their site says the base of the XXL is 3.9", and the opening in our bumper is barely 3.5". So I think Ill go with the regular Prolink. Im sure there is some way you could get the opening big enough to fit it in there snug, but mine is Line X'd, so i would have to be bending and peeling Line X ...

Re: Factor 55- "Winch Hooks"

A double pull with a snatch block will double the force at the anchor point( eg. Tree) . At your truck , the force will be shared between your winch and the flat link attachment point. If we assume our winches are capable of pulling 15000 lbs at its last wrap, then the winch and the flat link will ...

Re: Factor 55- "Winch Hooks"

The ProLink is rated at 16,000 lbs and has an ultimate failure rating of 39,000 lbs. Over 20,000 of our parts are out in the field without a single failure. A double line pull on one of our winches would exceed the rating. Should we be considering the Prolink XXL or a larger Flatlink like the AEV m...

Re: Cargo Rack Idea

Working through this issue for a Softopper myself. It mounts similar to a "traditional" cover with rails that clamp to the top of the bedsides and snaps on the outside of the rail. Thinking of just getting a rack that clamps to the bedsides then fabricating mounts that will sit outside the rails for...

I'll order the electrical goodies when I order the manual disconnect.

I agree RE the lockers. I had a Tacoma with the factory locker and had it modded to function in 2wd, 4hi and 4lo. Used it a lot in 2wd and 4hi.

Thanks for confirming that for me.

Re: 1/4-1/2 throttle rattle/tick noise??

I just got a 2012 and have it too. I think it is in the drive line. Noticed it not long after we got it. Had a chance to really listen coasting in a tunnel the other day so I had good sound reflection. Put the trans in neutral and it went away instantly. Back in gear coasting or on the gas and it ca...
