Re: dnb5853's 2012 PW ST Omaha Orange Original

I actually got 60,000 miles out of my 'factory' BFG ATs. I just switched over to the Les Schwab brand of Toyo highway tread tire. This truck doesn't get off road much, since my old CJ5 handles that chore very well. The PW did demonstrate death wobble at 45,000 miles; total freak out & bummer. It was...

Re: dnb5853's 2012 PW ST Omaha Orange Original

I recently installed a G4 Elite Fold-A-Cover for the bed. http://www.foldacover.com/ This is an excellent piece of hardware. It has decreased road noise and increased gas mileage as well. :) Since the Rambox was not an option with orange in 2012, this folding cover has more than made up the differen...

Re: dnb5853's 2012 PW ST Omaha Orange Original

Thanks for the comments, guys. Omaha Orange is a factory color for the ST series trucks. The color choices for the ST model are far more plentiful than the SLT model. The only PW logo that is standard with the ST model is the tailgate decal. I had the hood decals added. I believe most Power Wagons a...

Re: dnb5853's 2012 PW ST Omaha Orange Original

The Spyntec email representative suggested a 4.25" hole saw, as he heard that had worked for others.
I was fortunate enough to have a co-worker (with access to a 3-axis NC milling machine) help me cut the center cap holes. 8-)

Re: dnb5853's 2012 PW ST Omaha Orange Original

Thanks for all the compliments. The hubs are the shorty kit as featured here: http://spyntec.com/category/dodge-shorty-00-13-spyntec-hub-conversion-kit/ I'm not sure about the rust prevention; just want to make sure. The RCVs can be installed without the hub conversion. You can custom specify whiche...

Locking hub installed. lockouts 024.jpg Wheel and tire installed. lockouts 025.jpg Factory hubcap modified to fit over locking hubs. I cut a 4.25” diameter hole in the hubcap. I still need to paint the spindle to avoid rust. lockouts 026.jpg The RCV axle joint after installation (passenger side). lo...

Only 12 attachments allowed (I'll have to keep this in mind for future posts) Grease seal installed at the inner bearing. lockouts 012.jpg There are two drilled & tapped holes in the new spindle for the ABS sensor. My sensor only required one hole. I flush plugged the other hole with RTV sili...

dnb5853's 2012 PW ST Omaha Orange Original

I had a 1965 PW in high school, and had much fun with it. I’ve owned several 4WDs since then. I’ve never bought a new vehicle, either. When Dodge announced the new PW, I kept my eyes on it for several years. At age 50, I figured it was time for that brand new vehicle. I didn’t want anything fancy. I...

Thanks!
It's Omaha Orange - a standard color option for the ST model.

A first pull for my 2012 PW ST

I took my old CJ5 to Moab. The PW had the honors of towing it there and back. http://i331.photobucket.com/albums/l450/bdb5853/2013-10_MOAB/DSC_0001_zps631ba985.jpg Here's a link to the rest of the pics, but mostly Jeeps and ATVs. http://s331.photobucket.com/user/bdb5853/library/2013-10_MOAB?sort=3&p...

Re: Moab 2014

I'm new here, but not to off-roading. I'm keeping an eye on this trip. I hope it doesn't conflict with the EarlyCJ5 trip in Sept 2014. Cheers!
