Re: Differential catching after fluid change
I've got it in mine too. But wasn't till my 3rd diff service which I went with Lucas. Later on found I needed a R&P but after that the shudder was still there and I used Amsoil. It's barely noticeable now unless I have 12k+ pounds towing. Was exactly same feeling as Abel stated. What's really odd is...

Let's freshen up this ghost town! Little work to go play... 20231103_144008.jpg Around 16k. Did absolutely fine. I put airbags on finally so no more squatting. Kept it out of 5th, 70mph average. 7.3 mpg round trip. Not flat at all but also not in the mountains. Trans stayed at 160 except for one gra...

Re: Ugh. Pinion bearings gone after using Lucas
Small update. Changed fluid, cleaned and adjusted mag, refilled with Amsoil servers gear 75/90. Felt a bit better but was still there. Took a 1k mile tow trip and on way back home I noticed it a lot less. Now , a couple weeks later, it's all back to normal as far as I can tell. need mods... too litt...

I've never had this issue but I also always put parking brake on too. And try to load on even as possible ground.

New Yukon R&P in... no noise/vibes or anything from like before but the shudder when turning from a standstill is actually worse now.

Re: Ugh. Pinion bearings gone after using Lucas
Tore it apart to inspect as it did seem to have a tiny up down movement on the yoke... Seems the pinion nut backed off some or maybe the snout stretched??? Tightened up the pinion nut and backlash measured 16! Spinning with a drill it was a lot louder after tightening too so new R&P and install kit ...

Re: Ugh. Pinion bearings gone after using Lucas
Thought of trans. It doesn't change when I shift through gears. Always at 25-30, no change in pitch with RPMs or whatever gear it's in.
It literally could be anything, I'm still on all factory everything except brakes and balljoints.

Re: Ugh. Pinion bearings gone after using Lucas
Rear pinion seal has been leaking and I've fought with warranty on it. In the end they pulled the "we'll do all we can to negate your warranty" so it's now not going to dealer for anything except to see if they can pinpoint something

Re: Ugh. Pinion bearings gone after using Lucas
75 90 like manual states. It's got 156k on it. I just don't see a coincidence in all was fine, then once I used Lucas I started getting vibes and a drone. First dealer said between tires and exhaust we can't tell what it is. Today I described it and watched as they pulled it inviter a drive. The guy...

Ugh. Pinion bearings gone after using Lucas
So before my Moab trip last year I did diff service, installed rock crusher covers and swapped to Lucas oil. Now just over a yr later I've been having a weird vibe and noise between 25-30 mph under light throttle. Dealership just diagnosed pinion bearings are out. Rear more so than front. Anyone els...

Yep softer suspension is what down rates the rating. I've been at max many times, no issues. I'm getting ready to put bags on and start towing a 30ft lowboy with 2 Jeeps. I know it'll do it but it's gonna be hard on her

Makes sense. I was surprised the metalcloaks were only single adjustable Clayton's got good stuff. I'm rebuilding a JKU on 42s with all EVO stuff and I wouldn't buy their stuff after seeing all this. Granted the guy should have went with a full custom link setup but I've read a just as much bad on t...

You won't lose but maybe 3 mpg on the 37s.
What made you piece it all together rather than a Clayton kit? Seems like a hassle

Yeah figured that too. A mech down the road quoted $200 even for it and I said he'll, that's worth me not trying it all day long. I'll probably get some longer 10.9 grade hardware to have him replace tho

5.7 exhaust manifold issues again
I went thru the past threads but nothing recently I found so here's a new post. Anyone still with the 5.7 found an actual fix for the studs breaking? Wasn't going into 4low all the way.
It was like the torque twist you feel when you do a power stall. Twisted the body up. Good thing we were in shop and not wheeling, coulda been bad
