Re: Dual Batteries, dual alternator 6.4L swap
All the trucks use the BGE version of the 6.4 and not the Apache 6.4 ("392") found in SRT cars and Jeeps. The only difference on the 4500/5500 BGE is they have a lower redline that lowers the horspower, and typically much lower axle gears. The BGE has oil sprayers on the pistons, a different alloy f...

Re: Any Great Options for Replacing the 66RFE?
Have you checked out Jasper? Used to do a lot of the Gen 3 & 4’s. Heard they also added the HD 66RFE,,, Theirs sounds decent and seems like it would be a bit cheaper than the Next Gen/Monster/TEC ones I've been considering. I really don't need stronger, just longer lasting.... Considering how I tre...

Any Great Options for Replacing the 66RFE?
Doing some research, so far the only one I have found is Monster with a two-year warranty for $8k, seems expensive, and some local places have 3 year/100k mile warranties. Has anyone found a great replacement option that can maybe even handle a little bit more power if I choose to pursue a stroker o...

Wow, super easy on the fourth gen. Second one didn't take me more than 1-2 minutes. First had a bit of a learning curve but still was pretty easy just awkward working my fingers in behind the lens.. Thanks for sharing this! I am excited, I have been noticing in the mornings now that it's cooler I us...

Good deal, thanks. I ordered them up, will give it a go. Not as important now that I'm in OK instead of CO, but last years ice storms still made me want this. Corrected on mine being now power.

Re: Lithium Ion Jump Packs
So this may seem silly but when I spoke to some of the larger battery suppliers (lithium RV batteries, not larger companies) they didn't recommend even their starting batteries for V8s. I have the AG one in my KTM and will put one in the side by side when the time comes. Big concerns of theirs was a...

Re: Charlotte, NC Mechanic for 100k Service
I don't recall there was much on the Ram at 100k? Seemed like it was 120k. With my Chevy, I did air filter, trans, T'case, engine oil and should have done spark plugs (did them at 110k.) That's my plan for the Ram at 120k. Cabin airfilter I would consider if they have them. As you are over 5 years, ...

Re: 2015 PW 30k Mile 4wd Service?
Seems excessive. I would do the T-case at 50k miles and 100k miles, and the transmission similar depending on towing. The front diff would jsut be based on age or amount of time in mud that might have got some water in. The diff oil itself should out last the truck but moisture will damage it. For a...

Re: Sonnax Line Pressure Booster for 545rfe and 66rfe
Gotcha, no that makes sense. Currently I'm not having any issues other than an occasional weirdness on transition between no throttle and part throttle but seems more programming related, as its at low speeds and no load.

Re: Sonnax Line Pressure Booster for 545rfe and 66rfe
Those with the Sonnex happy? I assume with 66RFE, if you do a custom engine tune (Hemifever) that doesn't do anything for the transmission tuning? It appears on his sight he has tuning for the 8 speed but nothing for the six speed is listed.

Re: Pulsar or Peddle Commander?
Good deal, all makes sense. The 46RE/4L85E just didn't have enough gears, but I always have felt like the 6.4/66RFE should have done more and was leaning to gears even with 35"s. The custom tune sounds like a good start and then do the re-gear if/when needed. Same progression I did 20 years ago. :D ...

Re: Pulsar or Peddle Commander?
For sure. On the tune and gears since you did both, which would you say gave you the biggest advantage? I've always missed the torque of my 8100 below 4000 rpm but if I hold lower gears the power on top is much better with the 6.4

Re: Pulsar or Peddle Commander?
Great input. That makes a lot of sense. I had a Kenne Bell custom tune for 91 octane on my '01 Ram and it made way more difference than the Hypertech I replaced it with (when the original ECM died.) I do like the Pulsar can read and clear codes but ultimately that's pretty doable with a ton of diffe...

Ended up getting a dealer here to reset the Radio Hub so the ProCal worked. No lights on the way home from the dealer. Cost $80 but a lot chaeper than the other alternatives.

Wow. That’s disappointing. I got my ‘16 as it was the only truck on the market with manual shift for the t case (my main issue in my Chevy 2500) and leather.

AEV Procal TPMS non - Android Solution?
Looking to get my TPMS warning corrected. I was going to go with the Alfa OBD2 but I don't have an android device nor am I familiar with them. I have the AEV Procal, it has all the features I need, but obviously without the dealer reset it just reads 35 psi but still the alarm flashes at 60 psi. I d...

Re: 14+ 5.13 Gears, Noisy?
The 5.13s I put in my '01 didn't make any noise. Even with a 0.25" wall driveline. My friend, a Land Rover mechanic, set them up. They were Dana-Spicer I put in the Dana 70.

Odd, my aftermarket LED taillights/BU lighs haven't been any problem. I also went just LED replacement bulbs on the fogs rather than the full mori-moto with no issues. Saving up for their heidlgiths though.
