Re: 37" tires with 4.10 for those who do have
The transmission is your weak point when towing. Keeping it in the correct gear for as long as possible is what keeps temperatures down i.e. the torque converter locked on a gear consistently for as long as possible. I can say with 100% unwavering confidence that 37” tires on a 2015 Ram power Wagon,...

Re: Bald Mountain 4x4 trail - Alaska - Local Power Wagon owners?
Tim, John, It sounds like we are all in Anchorage (despite my screen name—I live in Anchorage now). I’d love to find a week when it is dry. Is June the dry month i.e. best time? Also Tim it sounds like you’re the subject matter expert on the trail. So, I’ll defer to you. I will also private message ...

Bald Mountain 4x4 trail - Alaska - Local Power Wagon owners?
I’m planning on driving the Bald Mountain 4x4 trail this 2018 Summer in my Power Wagon. It is North of Anchorage in the Wasilla area. Are there any other Power Wagon owners in Alaska that would like to join during a dry period? When your truck is over 7,000lbs it is nice to have trucks of equal weig...

Re: power wagon went onto it's lid at Uwharrie
This reminds me to look for an aftermarket front camera for the powerwagon. I'd like something with a small monitor that could clip to the dash while off-roading. We all know the rock crawling visibility is poor. You can hear how casual the conversation was. That drop was probably invisible for the ...

Re: 4.10 to 4.56 axle ratio upgrade kit for 2015 PW?
So, despite the title of this thread I completed my upgrade to 4.88 ring and pinion gearing (front and rear) last Friday the 5th. This goes to show the benefit of this forum. The question is only a starting point. I want to thank adeluca73 and usmc369 who both gave the good advice of matching 4.88 R...

Re: 2017 Wandering/Pulling to Right
My 2015 PW did that due to the OEM duratrac tires. It was after my fist tire rotation, and balance at around 5K. They seemed to wear uneven. I was worried about my new truck. But, then I switched to Nitto trail grapplers at about 15K miles, and everything was straight as an arrow. Hear me now, under...

"I think heavy tow loads and big tires are causing your trans to not know how to shift right. Maybe." Sent from my safe space[/quote] Damage, I think you're spot on. I knew this was the problem, but didn't know what to call it. Because I am overworking the transmission with the 37" tires, while stil...

Re: Power Wagon's and Airstreams?
California, those issues sound dead on like your torque converter is not locking. I find it very strange that you hit those temps if you were crawling though. We were pounding through sand washes last weekend in the Mojave and I backed off when my trans hit 190. That is the only time I've ever seen...

Re: Finished sliders
I'm impressed. I didn't think there was a slicker set-up than the white knuckle off-road, which weigh 250lbs together. But, I really like the custom fabrication work that you did. They are slim, and don't cut into ground clearance. Is the entire installation welded, or are there some bolts in places?

Re: Power Wagon's and Airstreams?
Mike, So, I guess that I should clarify on the overheating issue. I only had two incidents where the transmission lagged on shifting, and the throttle got strange and mushy. It has only happened twice in the 42,800 miles life of the truck (got 37" tires just this fall). It is also important to note ...

Re: Power Wagon's and Airstreams?
Here is an update to my experiences towing an Airstream with a Power Wagon: 1. I added the 3" AEV Dual sport lift kit. This kit puts the standard OEM 2500 coils on, and tosses the PW coils. This was a substantial improvement. I highly recommend it for safer towing. The squat in the rear went away. Y...

4.10 to 4.56 axle ratio upgrade kit for 2015 PW?
I have seen several threads that discuss axle ratio, but they seem to get convoluted quickly. I have done the math, and I need to be at 4.56 axle ratio for my towing application of a 8,800lb camping trailer (pictured below). The OEM 4.10 is too high, and my transmission goes over 200 degrees during ...

Re: Winch Replacement, possibly aftermarket? Please Help!!
If the dealer gave you cash....then he did you a huge favor. You can now purchase any aftermarket winch bumber for a regular Ram 2500 (tons more choices than the narrow PW selection). Now, after that you can purchase any winch of your chosing. That dealer did you a favor by pulling you out of the na...

Re: AEV Prospector Vs Power Wagon
Ramajama, There is a third option that has not been mentioned. You buy the power wagon, and purchase the AEV lift kit + AEV wheels + installation+ 37" tires+OEM 2500 springs...$5K ish? This gives you a stock PW with 37" tires (no rub), and you also increase to the stock 2500 (6.4L V8) tow capability...

Re: Can you still tow with D rated tires at 50 PSI?
These are the tires that I ended up going with. D rated, Toyo Open Country R/T (37x12.5R17). They ride great. I commute with approx. 49 psi all around. I have not towed yet, but do not anticipate any problems.

This thread has mentioned upgrading the radius arms for the newer PW (2014+). I have been looking at these from Carli.

Wouldn't part # CS-DFRA-14 address any Power Wagon radius arm shortcomings?

Re: Exhaust mods?
I had installed the Magnaflow #19200 exhaust on my 2015 RAM 2500 Power Wagon (6.4L V8). It works, and fits perfectly. And the exhaust sounds as good as it looks. You need the whole system (both mufflers i.e. factory set-up), because if you remove the secondary muffler you will get horrible decibel l...

Can you still tow with D rated tires at 50 PSI?
I am opening up a question to the forum. I need your help in better understanding the consequences of installing the AEV dual sport lift on my 2015 Power Wagon Tradesman. A very strong appeal to me for the lift is the ability to run 37" D rated tires at 50 psi (measured cold pressure). This combined...

Re: Power Wagon's and Airstreams?
image.jpeg I agree. I love the Power Wagon/Airstream combination. It is an obvious adventure duo. Also Airstreams are light towing, when compared to farm equipment etc. so, even with reduced spring capability, the Power Wagon pulls/rides very well. It was a lot of research for me, and I purchased t...
