Re: Rear bumpers options
I really like the new Warn bumpers - I might swap my rear for one to get some added reverse lighting. Recovery points would be nice but I think the 2.5" Hitchlink I've already got is a better option anyways. https://www.warn.com/truck/mounting-systems/assets/images/96445-Ram-2500-3500-Ascent-Rear-Bu...

Re: 6.4 Average Running Temp
On many modern vehicles the computer tries to get the temp above 212* for the purpose of evaporating any water that may have made its way into the oil.

Thanks 6" - from front to top of mounting plate 6" and 7/16ths overall length front to back 4.75" from the top of the mounting plate to the center of the hole They bolted up fine, haven't ...

Re: Duratracs have to go, need options.
I have always heard the wheel should be half the diameter of the tire for the best compromise. 35/2 = 17.50 so that makes sense. And 37 would equal and 18 inch wheel. Interesting. I thought so too. The sidewall on 37x17 is pretty meaty already. Any bigger it would be pushing the limits of ...

Thanks for all the input, everyone! I just ordered 5x 37x12.50r17 Toyo R/Ts. I'll post some pics next week when I get them (and the thuren front level) installed. Can't wait!!`

Re: Duratracs have to go, need options.
Yeah, I've got my heart set on 37s - I just need to try to figure out which one is right for me!
It's a big purchase and one I'll likely be living with for the next few years as I don't put many miles on in a year. I just want to get it right the first time and be happy.

Re: Duratracs have to go, need options.
I'll have 2 spares - one in the bed on a extra PW alloy and the 33" factory spare under the bed (that I could throw on a front wheel in an emergency). As far as I know both the R/T and the KO2 are 3 ply sidewall tires. As for the weight the D rated 37" R/T weighs about the same as the 35" E rated ve...

KO2 vs R/T vs ???
OK so I'm about to pull the trigger on new tires in preparation for big trip out west to go wheeling in CO and UT (Moab). Had 37x12.5R17 Toyo R/Ts all ready to click order. They look awesome and should give me good ground clearance and not *too* much rubbing with stock wheels and Thuren 1.5" overlan...

Re: Has anyone replaced their front tow hooks?
I don't think they are compatible with a PW. They are not a direct bolt up on 2500/3500 trucks. I think you have to clearance a bracket and cut ports in the lower bumper valence. Yeah I had looked at this option as well. On cumminsforum someone tried putting these on a 2500. Will likely require wel...

Re: Has anyone replaced their front tow hooks?
I'm not so big of a fan of how much leverage that shackle has. Maybe it's needed, but that hole would be better more towards the base. The welds are strong but there should be more passes on the main bar coming out of the 3/8". Cutting a hole through the 3/8" and welding the back side would probabl...

Re: Has anyone replaced their front tow hooks?
Well, I received the new "tow hooks" from Ebay today. First impressions? Well as my favorite youtuber says, she's definitely got some gravity to her. Nearly 11# with the shackle hanging from it. It feels incredibly solid. According to the seller, it is fabricated using A36 steel 1x3" bar stock welde...

Re: Octane at altitude and MPG on 6.4L
Octane level depends on altitude. The higher the altitude, the less octane you need to prevent detonation. This was my understanding as well. That's why the gas stations in CO can get away with selling 85. I think I'll probably run 89 for as much of the trip as I can and if it's reasonably priced i...

Re: Octane at altitude and MPG on 6.4L
Thanks Mike,
Just to be clear, are you saying that once I get to CO/UT I should be running 89 or 91 even if that is their "premium" fuel? I agree about the performance at sea level. Here in FL I stopped bothering with mid-grade because I couldn't notice the performance difference.

Octane at altitude and MPG on 6.4L
Planning a long road trip to CO and Moab from FL this summer. 2 questions: I know gas stations at elevation in CO sell 85 octane as "regular" and 87 as mid grade. I know 89 is preferred for my '16 but it runs fine on 87. For you CO owners what octane do you run above 5000' Second question for those ...

Re: Deadman Winch Anchor
Let me ask a serious question, a Pull Pal while weighing more will work just as equally well in sand correct? But will also work in mud and dirt terrain like encountered in Utah. Kinda seems like it's better to have the more versatile tool. I've used the Pull Pal when mired in sugar sand here in FL...

Re: Duratracs have to go, need options.
That looks gnarly. I guess I'm back to square one again - I'll probably end up going with the Toyo R/T in 37x12.5R17 because it's 3-ply even though it's D-rated. There isn't an E rated 37 R/T only M/T. The anecdotal evidence the past few posts have made confirm what I've read elsewhere - the KO2 is ...

Re: Chevy ZR2 with Duramax and Front/Rear Lockers
The pricing and fuel mileage on this tuck don't make a whole lot of sense compared to a PW - at least to me. 19/22 epa rating for the diesel? I was excited when I heard about this truck and thought to myself man I wish I could have cross shopped this when I bought my PW but my tradesman PW costs les...

I took the risk and ordered them. I'm *hoping* that it's just because it was stick welded which would be appropriate for the thickness of material. My fear is it's crappy MIG done by a blind man. If so, I can return it for the cost of a USPS flat rate box.

I was tossed up between AT tires in a 37 or a more aggressive and durable MT E load range 35. I just mounted a 35'' spare under my truck in the stock location which was nice to have the ability to do. E load range 35's are super heavy. 37's would be crazy heavy in e load range however some d load r...

Re: Duratracs have to go, need options.
Heads up: Tire Rack has 37x12.50R17 KO2s on sale for $300 a tire. This is at least $50 a tire cheaper than anywhere else I've seen. You could always try ordering from somewhere with free shipping and see if they'll price match Tire Rack if you want to save even more. This is totally messing with my ...
