Re: Expedition One Bumper For Ram

Here is the picture I was trying to post. I thought this was a nice looking bumper for Ram trucks. Maybe some of you would be interested.

Re: I want to see your slide in campers!

Here is the truck and camper I had before the Power Wagon. Camper was an Arctic Fox 995 with a full side slide out. It was a nice camper, but heavy even for a 3500 dually. It weighed in at about 5000 lbs, and caused the truck to sway more than I liked. It never was all that fun to drive, but you sur...

Re: AEV Ram!

Indeed. :poke:  That's just my biggest gripe with the AEV Prospector. I know we're http://cassiopaea.org/forum/Smileys/default/deadhorse.gif here already, but I personally just don't think the markup is worth the value of what you get in return. You can price out the components yourself, incl...

Re: AEV Ram!

A little slow on the up-take? Took you a month to see it. I just priced out one for giggles. $26.000 on top of the truck price. :jawdrop: My pockets ain't that deep. You have to pay full price for the base vehicle too. This is not true at all! Mine had $12K knocked off of the base vehicle pr...

Re: On-board Air Compressor

Here's what I did with my new Mega Cab. I installed an ARB Twin compressor under the cab of the truck in a space that looks like it was made for the compressor to fit into, right between the fuel tank and the DEF tank (diesel truck). I do not remember if that same space was available on my Power Wag...

And the Cummins is getting 50% better fuel mileage than my Power Wagon was, towing the same load at the same speed, over the same route. You guys are starting to make me think I'm hard on equipment.

Re: 2016 Power Wagon: 10,000 Mile Review

I've already noticed that. If I keep it to 65 mph I get 11 to 12 mpg towing. If I drive 80 mph I get 8 mpg. This Cummins 6.7 makes peak torque at 1600 RPM, and there is a definite sweet spot at about that RPM where the engine is much more efficient. With 37" tires and 4.10 gears I am at 1600 RPM at ...

Re: 2016 Power Wagon: 10,000 Mile Review

1. Speed limit for half the trip was 80 mph.
2. Trailer is shaped like a 6000 lb parachute.
3. 37" tires and 4.10 gears.
4. I apparently didn't get one of special trucks you read about on the internet that get 20 mpg towing 20,000 lbs, uphill, into a headwind.

Hey guys, just stopping by to say hi, and noticed there were a few more post on my 10,000 mile review thread. While I'm here I thought I would post a picture from today of the Power Wagon replacement doing what it does, tow the toys to the desert. Just completed a 350 mile trip today, and average fu...

Re: Tool Chest / Roll Away Cabinet

Well I got the Extreme Tools toolbox today, and put the casters on, and lifted the top toolbox in place. That was a chore, with me on one end and my wife and 20 year old son on the other end. Overall I think the toolbox is good quality, and looks like it will be heavy duty enough for home use. I am ...

Re: AEV Ram!

Here are the daylight pictures I promised. I spent the day doing recon work in the hunting unit I drew out on with the Elk hunt. The hunt will be November 21st till December 4th, and I want to get to know the area better. So I spent the day looking around with the AEV Prospector. The day started out...

Re: 2016 Power Wagon: 10,000 Mile Review

You guys misinterpreted what I was saying with the sound comment. I said the exhaust was so quiet that you couldn't even hear it, and all you heard was the loud roaring of the air intake, or engine fan. I'm fine with a quiet exhaust, and actually prefer it that way, but if you need to get on the gas...

2016 Power Wagon: 10,000 Mile Review

I'll be turning my 2016 Power Wagon in to the dealer tomorrow for an AEV Prospector with a 6.7 Cummins and Aisin transmission, and thought I would give a review of one year of ownership with the Power Wagon. I've owned a lot of pickup trucks in my life, with the first being a 1977 Chevrolet K10 Cust...

Ordered the Extreme Tools toolbox this evening. Shipping time is 6 to 10 days, and comes on a freight truck with a lift gate.

Re: sand tire pressure

Toyo's are stiff tires. In sand I would start at 20 psi and go down from there if you have any problems. I had one episode where I got stuck in sand in a two wheel drive pickup (stock street tires), and after airing down to 7 psi I drove right out.

Re: AEV Ram!

Thanks guys. I think it is going to be a nice truck. I'm really looking forward to getting back into a Cummins truck. The only thing I wasn't real happy to see is that AEV sent the truck with the wrong tires. I ordered it with KM2s and they sent it with KO2s, so the dealer is going to take care of t...

Re: Tool Chest / Roll Away Cabinet

Thanks for the link to strictlytoolboxes.com . I'm still looking for toolboxes, and have decided on a 56" size. Here are a couple that look like they are pretty good quality. I'm leaning toward the Extreme Tools toolbox because it uses 18 gauge steel in the drawers, whereas the Tool Vault toolbox on...

I just got an email from my dealer, and the AEV Prospector I ordered a few months ago has been delivered. Now I just need to find time to go get it. Re: 2014 rear dampener link?

I'm one of the guys that added two more dampener links, which really helps with rear axle wrap / wheel hop by the way. I don't think you need to replace it just because you are replacing your other shocks. If you do replace it, be aware that it is one super super stiffly valved SOB, and the new shoc...

Re: AEV Ram!

I think you are defining a "meh" part differently than me. I consider a "meh" part to be a part with mediocre quality, and I'll bet this hood is actually of very good quailty. It is a carry over from their Jeep product line. Wranglers that have a 5.7 or 6.4 Hemi conversion do have a heat problem und...

Tool Chest / Roll Away Cabinet

Hey guys, I've been looking around for a new toolbox to use in my garage. There are so many of these that choosing one over another becomes a challenge. The small town I live in doesn't help, because there are very few in stock at any of the local stores for me to look at. Home Depot had a 36" combi...

Sorry to hear about you losing your Aimee. My dog is also named Amy, and it is true what they say about a dog being man's best friend. My Amy is getting older, and I'm already dreading the day when she passes on.
