Re: Interchangeability of engines
Keep me updatedo n the engine swap .I'd like to do the same thing you are. It was a while ago but I said I'd try to let you know about any difficulties, etc. A 6.1 is not technically a difficult swap. The blocks are the same exterior dimensions as the 5.7 and they bolt right up to the engine mounts...

Re: Interchangeability of engines
The engine swap is done. It was a total gong-show from start-to-finish but it's done! Finally got the truck back on December 16th.

Re: Long Tube Headers
I still haven't got my truck back yet. I had a new engine installed as well and there have been issues. I've learned things like "you can put the wrong head on the wrong bank of a Hemi (it wasn't me, so I don't get the blame for that one). Now the engine sounds like a diesel and there were suggestio...

Re: Long Tube Headers
Dodger, how 'bout some more details on your choice of system including the cost of installation, and some pics. The system is the American Racing Headers with cats for a Dodge 2500. They assured me it would fit a 2005 PW and it did. With respect to the cost, it was done as part of having my engine ...

Re: Long Tube Headers
The ARH headers are currently installed on a 2005 Power Wagon. The guy said he had to slightly raise the engine on the right side to get better frame clearance. The left side was apparently no issue at all.

Re: Long Tube Headers
Just an update to say that I never did receive a response from the local dealers. No matter, I have been in contact with Steve from ARH and he said the headers for the 2500 will fit no problem. I have ordered a set and will let you know how that turns out.

Re: Long Tube Headers
Catalytic converters are in a different location on the newer models. Chris, here's a pic from the 2002-2008 FSM, my '05 looks just like the pic. What changed ? I guess I'll try calling TTI and see if someone can explain to me why they don't fit a 2005, hopefully I won't get the same guy that Dodge...

Re: Long Tube Headers
Hmm. If that's the only difference it sounds like it would be a simple matter to relocate or delete the catalytic converters.Pit Slave wrote:Catalytic converters are in a different location on the newer models.

Re: Long Tube Headers
That they won't fit an '05 makes no sense to me. As far as I know, other than cosmetics, there is no difference between an '05 and an '06. It doesn't make sense to me either but that is what they said. Is anyone aware of any differences, other than exterior cosmetics, between a 2005 and a 2006? Fra...

Re: Long Tube Headers
My question is: Has anyone actually installed long tube headers on a 2005 Power Wagon? Any long tubes I find specifically state 2006-2010. I've searched through threads with "headers" in them and found no definitive answer. Here's hoping someone can speak to this from experience! TTI on a 2006 PW.....

Re: Interchangeability of engines
Thanks for the responses. I am going with a 6.1 short block with ported/polished 5.7 heads and a Scud cam. I'll be using 6.1 fuel injectors and plan on using the stock intake/throttle body at least for now. I was looking for headers too, but from what I can see none of the long-tubes will fit an '0...

Re: Interchangeability of engines
Keep me updatedo n the engine swap .I'd like to do the same thing you are. So far all I know is the first step is to put a rod through the side of your 5.7! I'll try to let you know about any difficulties I run into, etc. or if it is really straight forward. My understanding is it is pretty much ju...

I would be interested. Maybe some would buy a spare set to help achieve the 200 sets needed to make the production run viable?

Re: Interchangeability of engines
Yes a Hellcat or an SRT-10 would be nice but I'm not a wealthy man. I might be able to afford the stick on lettering though! I've been informed that all the hemi engines are the same (cars, trucks, SUVs), from '02 to '08 (except that some have MDS) and should bolt right in. All I need to do is use m...

Re: Interchangeability of engines
Yes, I've read some things about that. Some say you need to plug MDS off and others say it just doesn't work if your wiring/computer isn't connected or made to run it.

Interchangeability of engines
Hi, I am looking for advice with respect to what engines are interchangeable and will work as a replacement for the 5.7 in my 2005. It looks like any 2002 to 2008 hemi from a truck will work, but it seems that engines from cars will not work (at least not easily). Are the engines in the 1500 series ...
