Uconnect Adapter
Anyone else have problems with Uconnect T-Mobile adapter? Is there a alternate hack? Changed over last November and had nothing but on/off problems. Last two weeks the app has shown my truck in the Atlantic off the coast of Africa. After getting the typical run I finally had enough and dumped Uconne...

Re: Powerwagon's best model year 2005-2020?
Owned a 2005, loved it and now a 2017. Beat the h*ll out of the 2005, broke both rear leaf springs, rebuilt the front end and sure I had some small electrical issues but I used it. Pulled a 28,000 delivery truck out of the ditch and many other trucks and cars. Sold it to I buy my loaded 2017 and wis...

Re: Homemade Old School Plug and Play Locker Bypass
I tested my 2017 trucks resistance in 2H, N and 4L. Rounding the numbers my readings where; 2H - 40 ohms, N - 20 ohms, 4L - 60 ohms. It's easy to test your trucks resistance in each position. Take your new plug end with the wires attach to an ohm meter, attach it to the transfer case and without sta...

Re: Steering Damper For 05 PW
I still have the factory setup with the bolt going through the tie rod, not the bracket style. Thanks.

Steering Damper For 05 PW
Anyone know if Bilstein makes a steering damper that works with the 05 Power Wagon bolt style steering damper? I went to the Bilstein's website and I believe it's part # 24-164870 but the 05 isn't listed as a fit. Just want to make sure I get this right before I place the order.

Re: Transfer Case is starting to fail.
Now for a follow up to the part that I believe some of you might be interested in. As I posted above my son is getting close to the driving age so I bought him a 2002 Rav4 4wd with a bad transmission for $2000. First he will learn how to fix, then he will learn how to drive. He wasn't, key word "was...

Re: Transfer Case is starting to fail.
Update: Sorry about the delayed response. First I'll tell you about my truck issue and then I'll make the next post about my son. So we start out by dropping the rear driveshaft, check both u-joints and reinstall the shaft. Both u-joints check out good. Next we drop the front driveshaft, check all t...

Re: Transfer Case is starting to fail.
In the process of trying to get to the bottom of our original post we got off track. Looking back at some of the post the topic of the "Service 4WD" light kept coming up. Then it hit me, those of us with the older PW know that this is a common annoyance with the AAM lockers. The "Serv 4WD" light wou...

Re: Transfer Case is starting to fail.
I can't help but to step in here and say something but I just have to. First I'd like to say thank you for spreading your knowledge and contributing to this forum. Second, this problem is a lesson to teach my 14 year old son how to track down information, research a problem and fix the problem. You ...

Re: Transfer Case is starting to fail.
This is not very common the NV-271 is a stout transfer case use on 4x4 Ram trucks up to 5500's. $900 does seem high most likely its the labor cost, you can get a new one for about $1328.20 from moparpartsoverstock.com. I checked out the mopar site and I could only find the NV273's which is the elec...

Re: Transfer Case is starting to fail.
Note, if you start looking for a junkyard replacement the NV-271 t-case on the RAM's they are specific to the trucks gearing, 3.73, 4.10, 4.56, etc. you need the one that came with the 4.56 gears on the PW. From what I see all the NV271D t-cases where 272 ratio and the differences in the power wago...

Re: Transfer Case is starting to fail.
I'm just spitballing here but IMHO, if it is "wearing out", it is because the fluid is too thin or too low. How many miles & what, exactly is it doing or not doing ? Bearing failure, output/input bearing ? I am running a 1 qt ATF+4 & 1 qt Lucas Lube 140 wt gear oil mix, with no issues. I'm using am...

Re: Transfer Case is starting to fail.
Sorry for the delay. My Serv 4wd light comes on periodically, not unusual for the power wagon. But recently the light has come on without the locker lights blinking. Then about a week ago while in 2wd and flexing the suspension I hear a pop and then another, like when in 4wd and the driveline is bin...

Transfer Case is starting to fail.
My transfer case is starting to fail and I need some advise about rebuilding it. Does anyone have any info on how I might be able to improve this NV-271D. What brand of parts would you recommend and which would you avoid? I can bring it in and have it rebuilt for $950 but I have no true way of knowi...
