Re: Headers

Slip joints tend to leak a bit sometimes if you don't really crank down on the band clamp. Also, headers will allow more valve noise and exhaust pulse noises to pass through due to the thinner material than the manifold, so you will have some noisiness to deal with. As far as shimming engine mounts ...

Re: Peter's 2019 Power Wagon Build Thread

Got my Kings last week. Installed them yesterday. The valving is a 2.5. They're softer then what I thought they would be. The back is mostly installed. The rear track bar took some work and getting the truck high enough to let the axle droop to get these monster springs in was not easy. Need to tig...

Re: SimonandSimonBeast Build

Just use a quality rattle can...Steel It or something else...Eastwood makes a two part paint in an aerosol can that has a special chamber with hardener and mixes when puncture it. It comes out harder like an automotive paint rather than a soft like Rustoleum can. That way when it gets scraped up or ...

Re: Sonnax Line Pressure Booster for 545rfe and 66rfe

Those with the Sonnex happy? I assume with 66RFE, if you do a custom engine tune (Hemifever) that doesn't do anything for the transmission tuning? It appears on his sight he has tuning for the 8 speed but nothing for the six speed is listed. I am on the hunt for some transmission upgrades due to a ...

Re: Pulsar or Peddle Commander?

For sure. On the tune and gears since you did both, which would you say gave you the biggest advantage? I've always missed the torque of my 8100 below 4000 rpm but if I hold lower gears the power on top is much better with the 6.4 The problem with our trucks is that the 66rfe has the same gear rati...

Re: Pulsar or Peddle Commander?

Great input. That makes a lot of sense. I had a Kenne Bell custom tune for 91 octane on my '01 Ram and it made way more difference than the Hypertech I replaced it with (when the original ECM died.) I do like the Pulsar can read and clear codes but ultimately that's pretty doable with a ton of diff...

Re: Pulsar or Peddle Commander?

I don't need much for features, just would like better throttle response or more power... I wouldn't personally spend my money on either. I don't have any experience with the Pedal Commander, but all it does is manipulate the signal from your pedal to act like its applying more throttle than you re...

Re: 66RFE Downshift Hesitation/Shudder

I work here where those parts are cast and the outward appearance of the case has nothing to do with the integrity of the case. This is the largest casting facility in the world and the people here know what they are doing and care a about a good quality product. Now on to the original problem I ha...

Re: 66RFE Downshift Hesitation/Shudder

I have the same exact problem, non tuned on my 66rfe. I suspect that it’s one of three issues. 1. A cross leak caused by the valve body or transfer plate being warped, causing cross-leakage. 2. The solenoid pack is going out, but hasn’t caused any codes yet. 3. Some electronic gremlin we don’t know...

66RFE Downshift Hesitation/Shudder

It seems like since I tuned my truck recently (Diablo, Hemifever), I have been having a fairly consistent issue with shuddering during acceleration when the truck goes to downshift. Its like it hesitates as if its unsure which gear it wants to shift to, and its hard enough it almost feels like wheel...

Re: 66RFE transmission with PO735 & PO871 codes

I understand, I brought that up with the transmission guy but my beef is the with the dealer leaving me in limbo for 2 weeks on their lot before getting it to the shop they sent it out to... This issue happened in Sept and they had it on the lot for 9 days before they looked at it, then gave me the...

Talked to the Transmission shop, still waiting on parts ... wtf It will be a month tomorrow. Just FYI, Covid has really fawked with parts suppliers and manufacturing. I work in a body shop, and a lot of parts that would normally be in stock in a local store or warehouse are back ordered weeks out w...

Re: Is there an exhaust fix

Long tube headers from ARH is what I did with my 6.4. Didn't break the manifold bolts, though I don't think its as prevalent a problem with the 6.4 as it is the 5.7. The headers will resolve the broken bolt issue, but it does come at the cost of more noise under the truck. The stock manifolds keep t...

Re: No More Manual T-Case Shifter for 2021

Honestly, as long as there are no restrictions on its usage, I really don't have a problem with the use of push button. Everything else is so electrified with these trucks, I don't see adding another electronic function as a problem. I just wish they would allow for an easier manner of overriding lo...

ARH Long Tube Headers- Dipstick Tube and Tranny Cable

Just out of curiosity, any of you that have gone with long tubes, what have you done with your dipstick tube and transmission shift cable? I had to wrestle and tweak my tube back into place after installing the header, which was easily the biggest PITA of the whole install. The old manifold bolt wit...

Re: Geolandar 35's chalk test: what are you running your pressure at?

17x8.5" wheels, I'm running 32lbs front and 25 rear with my 37x12.50 Toyo MT's...way less than a lot of other people, but that's what is getting me even tire wear and the best ride. A point that typically goes overlooked is that bigger tires require less pressure to support the same amount of weight...

Re: Rough Country Dual Stabilizer Kit

Dual steering stabilizers have always reminded me of the 80's and 90's when people where putting on as many cheap shocks as humanly possible, making their trucks ride even more like a brick. Not trying to trash talk, but honestly, this setup is a step backwards.

Re: Rough Country Dual Stabilizer Kit

:D Hey everyone. I just bought this kit and it says you have to have a minimum of 2.5 inches of lift to use it. Aside from the obvious has anyone tried it with the factory lift. it"s a half inch short of required amount. I was thinking of buying a 1.5 inch levelling kit as well if I need it. Just w...

Re: 14+ 5.13 Gears, Noisy?

Welp, I had spoken with the shop about my concerns, had them order the parts necessary, dropped it off this morning, and while speaking with them, they assured me gear ratios over 4.10 will likely make noise. Now, because of my concern with the noise, one of the primary reasons the truck is back wit...

My 5.13s don't make a peep at least I don't hear them over my cooper stt pros or engine noise. Even with back glass open? What brand gears? I'm somewhat familiar with loud gear noises from my 2004 Disco 2. No noises from the 5.13s from AAM (rear) and Yukons (front). With back glass open or all wind...

Re: 14+ 5.13 Gears, Noisy?

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm leaning towards backlash being a too tight. I know incorrect pinion depth can cause whine on accel or decel depending on deep or shallow, but I'm thinking with proper pinion depth and too tight of a backlash it'll whine consistently. It's too bad a lot of gear setup s...

14+ 5.13 Gears, Noisy?

Weekend before last I began the install of my 5.13 gear set in the rear of my Wagon. Was slow-going as it was a bit of a learning process as well as not having the exact tools necessary to make the job more convenient. When completed I noticed there was an audible whine beginning around 35mph and su...
